"I think you are over with your punishment, Nightshade." Alderfall mewed, but was still annoyed at her for going to the twolegplace.
Nightshade's eyes beamed. "Does this mean that I can stop being treated like an apprentice?"
Alderfall nodded. "And try telling the other warriors. Might do you some good." She remembered how the other cats of the clan had acted around Nightshade, and wondered if they would ever warm up to her. I'm sure it's fine. Alderfall thought. It wasn't that big of a deal. She started going to sort out the patrols. But still... I've only heard of apprentices and newly named warriors that had gone to twolegplace to eat food. She sorted out Branchtail for the dawn patrol, and Junipermist for the night patrol. Afterwards, she went to the medicine den, wondering if Waterleaf could help her figure out what the second part of the prophecy meant. Maybe if it gets figured out, I can finally sleep well. She entered into the large cave, filled with different types of herbs, the sweet-smelling herbs scented first. The den was nicely decorated, with a few beautiful feathers lined along the nests. Waterleaf was sorting herbs when Alderfall entered, and the medicine cat finished sorting a dock leaf before turning around. "Hello, Alderfall," She mewed calmly, but there was an anxious edge to her voice that gave all her worries away. "Is there something wrong?"
"I was hoping you could help me decipher a part of a prophecy that I had a few days ago." Alderfall explained. Waterleaf pricked her ears at the word prophecy, as if it was the last thing she wanted to hear. She beckoned with her tail for Alderfall to come closer so no one could hear, and she took one final look around before speaking. "I have already heard the whole thing from Dawnstar, and I have no idea what 'beware one that might find a path that you can't follow' means," She dipped her head in disappointment and sadness, then lifted it back up and spoke. "All I know is that the meaning most likely isn't what Dawnstar thinks."
Alderfall sighed. "Yeah, I thought so too. Did you tell her that?"
Waterleaf looked at Alderfall. "No, she has too much on her mind, with leaf-bare coming and prey amounts dropping. She also has to make sure that all of the kits are safe from the dark cat, as well as make sure that there are enough cats on guard."
It's going to be a hard leaf-bare. Alderfall thought. She started speaking now that Waterleaf was done. "Do you ha-" She was broken off by a loud screeching outside of the den. She bounded into the clearing, and saw cats pouring out of the dens to see what the screech was. Alderfall shot out of the camp, and found a cat lying on the ground, blood gushing out of a large wound on his flank.
It was Redleaf, Alderfall's half-brother.
"Redleaf? What happened?" Alderfall asked softly. Redleaf muttered a few words, but Alderfall couldn't understand a word he was saying.
"Wait here. I'm going to go get Waterleaf." As she walked off, she saw a black pelt and eyes of fire burning down on her. She looked away, furious, and kept on running to the medicine den. When she got to the medicine den, there was no need for words. Waterleaf grabbed a few herbs and sprinted out of the den, Alderfall close behind.
When they arrived by Redleaf, Alderfall saw more and more blood oozing from the wound. Waterleaf chewed a large mouthful of herbs, and placed them hurriedly onto the wound. A few moments later, the wound stopped bleeding, Alderfall was filled with paw to tail tip with joy and surprise that Redleaf had actually survived.
Oh, thank StarClan! She thought. She was very happy that her brother had not lost too much blood. When they brought him back to the medicine den, Alderfall saw that Redleaf was unconscious, but her precious brother was alive. After she was sure he was okay, she strode over to Waterleaf. "So, about Berrykit... Will she be okay?" She asked, a handful of worry piling on top of her.
