Alderfall was walking through dark woods, the moon shining in the sky. She sniffed the air. Is this real? Or is this a dream? Is it a regular dream, or a dream from StarClan? She had a lot of questions, but no one around to answer them. The only thing Alderfall had remembered was laying down to sleep, but she had forgotten if she had woken up and had taken a stroll. Alderfall kept walking, and she found her paws taking her to the direction of her camp, but she wasn't moving them. So this is most likely a dream. Alderfall thought. Is this a StarClan dream? She wondered. And if it is, what will I find when I get where my paws are taking me?

Alderfall had passed the place where the clan cats had had gatherings. She was still in her dream, so she hadn't worried she would be confronted by rogues or other clan cats when she had gone through their territory. It feels like I have been walking for moons. Alderfall thought woefully. After several moments, Alderfall saw the trees closing in, getting closer and closer every pawstep. Finally, her paws automatically came to a stop. It's like I'm not in control of my own body. She thought, shivering. When she finally left her thoughts, she gasped at what was in front of her. Spread out along the moor was a large group of cats. Alderfall saw that they were facing something--or someone-- and she followed their gaze. When she finally saw what the cats were looking at, her gaze rested on a black cat. Shadow. Alderfall thought. She tried to dash forward and claw him, but her paws instead walked nonchalantly to the bottom of the rock that Shadow was sitting on. He started talking, the seemingly frozen moment over. "My cats of DeathClan, I have been waiting for this moment for seasons. To be a leader. That was all I wanted. But when I had told this to my kin, they threw me out. I don't know why, but the only thing they had told me before they had was 'you will never be a leader, Shadowpaw' and so that had been how I had become a ro-" When he stopped, Alderfall realized that the rock and all the cats around it were fading away, and when the fading came to an end, Alderfall dizzy, she saw that she and Shadow were in SmokeClan. Alderfall had only been there when Sparrowheart, the previous medicine cat, had needed to get catmint, so Alderfall had come too, and they had asked the medicine cat at SmokeClan for herbs.

What was in front of her shocked Alderfall. A she-cat, a tom, and an apprentice were in a line around Shadow. The she-cat in the middle spoke first, a cold look on her face.

"Shadowpaw, we have told you several times. You are too weak. You can't even catch one measly squirrel, nor can you beat your denmate. Who I will say is very small." She snarled. "You will never become a leader. You might not even make it to a warrior, if you aren't careful."

"B-but I really want to be like you, Mothstar." Shadowpaw stammered.

"You'll die before you can even become a deputy," She looked at the two cats around her, and they nodded hesitantly, but as they saw the she-cat's look, their hesitation immediately vanished. Mothstar spoke again. "Actually, why should we keep a burden like you in our clan?" she hissed. "Just one more mouth to feed, and one more cat who won't do anything for the clan."

"B-but I will do something!"

A voice came into Alderfall's head, as if she could read Shadowpaw's thoughts. The voice cried: Thrown out by my own family? What else could go wrong? Then it went back to Alderfall's thoughts. Probably the worst scenario, Shadowpaw... Alderfall thought for a second with sympathy, then remembered how he had hurt Alderfall's kits.

Why do I feel so bad? He hurt my family, and took food that had been on PineClan's territory.

Even so, being thrown out by your own family is probably what made him so mad, so really... I should be blaming SmokeClan for this.
