She woke to the dawn light of the sun, the warmth of it shining down on her. She stretched, and gave one final lick to her kits before padding out of the nursery. The warm winds soothed her. Sadly, it'll soon be leaf-fall. The warm winds would wash away, like a river that was flowing to the ends of the earth, never going to be seen by Alderfall again.
As Alderfall was organizing a dawn patrol, she heard a yowl from the treetops outside the camp. She walked out and saw a cat.
A SmokeClan warrior! She thought, revulsion spiking her thoughts.
Dawnstar walked out of her den, her eyes half-closed. She sniffed the air, and her eyes went wide at the scent of an enemy warrior. "What is a SmokeClan warrior doing here?" She hissed.
The SmokeClan warrior padded forward, eyes gleaming with hatred. "I don't know, maybe because we scented PineClan warriors in our territory!" he hissed.
Dawnstar's fur bristled even more. "Why would you accuse us of that?! We have no traitors in our clan!"
One of the cats in the clan, Nightshade, stepped back a little. It must have been her. Alderfall thought, angered that one of the cats in the clan is either in love with a warrior in SmokeClan... or giving away secrets from PineClan. We don't deserve a presumptuous cat in our clan.
The SmokeClan warrior gave a spiteful hiss, but walked away, glaring over his shoulder as he disappeared into the gorse entrance.
Dawnstar jumped onto the Hardrock, and began to announce the meeting call. "Let all cats old enough to climb the bark of the pine gather under Hardrock for a clan meeting!" It didn't take long for all of the cats to gather around the rock, since most of the cats had been seeing what the fuss was about when the SmokeClan warrior came.
Dawnstar gave a little chuckle, and she flicked her tail for Alderfall to go on the rock. Alderfall felt humiliated. She had forgotten to go on the lower rock when Dawnstar had called the meeting. Instead, she had been sitting by the warriors, where she usually sat. She walked up to the lower rock. Dawnstar looked back at the clan.
"Today, a SmokeClan warrior came to our camp, and accused one of us of entering their territory. If anyone knows if there has been a cat that has been sneaking out, tell me immediately." Nightshade looked worried. Alderfall's face became hot. Nightshade was surely a traitor.
Dawnstar dismissed the clan. All of the cats stayed in place for a little while, whispering "There's a traitor in our clan?" and "Who would do such a thing?" and "What if they turn against us?" Alderfall sighed quietly.
Yes, what if they- or she- turns against us? She was worried, but she was going to keep an eye on Nightshade.

She finished organizing hunting parties. She had sent Junipermist, Branchtail, and Ratglow. The rest of the cats had gone to sleep, or had gone on patrol. The clearing was empty, except for Dawnstar and Hardfur.
She saw Nightshade was padding out of the camp, and it seemed she was in a hurry. Nightshade looked around, then kept going.
Alderfall felt a low hiss start to rise in her throat. She pushed it down, and started walking out of the camp as well. She slowed as she got close to Nightshade.
Nightshade wove through trees, and started getting nearer and nearer to the border. Alderfall was trying to be as silent as she could. Eventually, they were at the border. Alderfall expected Nightshade to go far into SmokeClan territory, but after Nightshade had sniffed the air, she started padding closer to the twolegplace.
The twolegplace.
Alderfall stood incredously. She was going to the TWOLEGPLACE.
Alderfall kept her pace with Nightshade, and stopped as they were at the edge of the forest, the twolegplaces in sight. Nightshade walked onward, without hesitation. But as for Alderfall, well, she wasn't very fond of twolegs, and she hesitated. But Alderfall pushed herself forward, and felt a small chill as she left the sweet forest scents and smelled the reek smell of twolegs.
Nightshade jumped onto a fence, and disappeared out of sight a moment later.
Alderfall followed even slower than before- because of the dogs, and because of the uneasiness she got whenever she was near a twoleg nest. She jumped onto a tree, and slowly pawed her way toward the end of a branch.
She saw Nightshade go in the flap, and she- once again- disappeared.
Alderfall jumped silently from the tree, and creeped toward the window on the twoleg nest.
She saw Nightshade, eating from a bowl in the middle of the floor.
A twoleg started walking toward Nightshade. "How are you doing, Eclipse?" The twoleg asked. Nightshade purred as the twoleg stroked her fur.
Alderfall couldn't believe it.
Nightshade hasn't only gone to a horrible twoleg and ate while the clan was hard on fresh-kill...
But she was also breaking the warrior code.
The law that the clans lived by.
And Nightshade can't get away with it.
