Jesse shook his head. "No. We found a card with your name on it in the mess. We were hoping you saw something." He let out a short laugh. "Although, judging by this, it might have been better that you weren't here." He turned and looked at her. "Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary?"
"There was a single rose left for me in my locker last week. Outside, not inside," she said as she looked around. "I just figured it was one of the girls congratulating me, you know."
Anna and Robert had come in as Zoe spoke to Jesse. "Sweetie, are you ok?" Anna asked. Zoe nodded as Anna put an arm around her. "I hate to do this Zee, but I have to ask you a few questions."
"It's fine," Zoe said as she faced Anna.
"You usually practice in here every day at 8 am, yes?" Anna asked. Zoe nodded. "Who knows you do this?"
"Everyone knows. It's not like I've kept it a secret or anything," Zoe said.
"That's true," Robert said.
"Have you broken up with anyone recently?" Anna asked, keeping her tone light.
"Two months ago, but we weren't dating that long," Zoe said. "But he never came here. He hated this place."
"Why?" Jesse asked.
Zoe shrugged. "He thought my 'hobby' took up too much of my time."
"So, other than the rose in your locker, you haven't noticed anything or anyone strange around here?" Anna asked.
"No," Zoe whispered as she looked around the room again. She turned and looked at three of them. "You think someone is after me?"
"At this point, we don't know what to think Zee," Robert said. Zoe let out a soft laugh. Robert looked at her. "What's so funny?"
"You only call me Zee when you want me to relax," she said.
Robert gave her a smile. "I guess I do. What I was going to say is we'll be adding a bit of extra security around the company, but you should be cautious for a while. This could be a big misunderstanding, or it could be something else and we want you to be safe."
"Do you carry pepper spray still?" Jesse asked.
"Of course," she said with a smile.
"Did you want to take the day off today?" Robert asked.
"No, I'm ok," Zoe said. "Besides, I'll drive myself crazy if I'm at home."
Robert smiled and gave her a side hug. "Ok, head up to Studio 4."
"Are you going to tell everyone about this?" Zoe asked.
Jesse nodded. "Yes, this way everyone can keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Besides, we're going to call the police if for nothing else, so we'll have a record of this. They'll probably want to talk to you as well Zee and I wouldn't count on using this studio at all this week."
"Take Studio 1 sweetie," Anna said as she gave Zoe a quick hug. "I know you and Colton reserved time for rehearsals on Wednesdays, but I would suggest you don't do your usual 8 am for the week."
Zoe smiled at Anna. "Thank you, and yeah, I think I'll be taking this week off."
Jesse smiled at her. "Go on up. We'll be there shortly."
Zoe nodded and headed up stairs. What the hell was all that? she thought to herself. Who would do something like that? She paused as she reached the last of the stairs, her anxiety taking over for a minute. Breathe, just breathe. Fear never ruled me before, I won't let it start now. She let out one last sigh and headed up the last flight of stairs.
