The Guide of Argos

Chapter 3

As the boulder starts rumbling behind them, Falcon only has a split second to make his move as the boulder rolls nearer to their exit. Falcon immediately hurled the sceptre towards the boulder and it stopped for a second before disappearing out of sight. However, a dungeon gate reveals itself hiding a powerful, mystical creature that no one has ever even heard of before. It has deer's antlers, a shark's head, the body of an alligator, and a snakelike tail that makes up a quarter of its size. The beast looked menacing in front of Falcon and Ileo. It starts shooting venom at them as soon as they've entered the gate. Ileo is frantically shouting"How do we fight this? Do you have a plan?" over the fast winds. Falcon, on the other hand, couldn't say a word in shock. He then sees that the beast has a weak point, so he hurled his staff at it as hard as he could. Unfortunately, his staff got melted by the new wave of venom. Falcon desperately thought to himself 'this isn't happening! How can the monster melt Elementium.'(Elementium is by far the strongest known metal in the overworld and is often thought to have magical qualities. It is often used for staffs and swords.) Falcon decides to run as fast as he could towards the nearest exit and got to the exit but got hit with some venom. Falcon tried all he can to heal the venom(Healing stones, potions, relics etc.)but it didn't work. Falcon thought he could almost hear footsteps coming toward him before he passed out due to the venom's unknown effect.

When he woke up, he found himself in a cave, being tended to by healers from a previously unknown group called the Vedia. They are powerful wizards, possessing technology unknown to either Man or Elf. Their magic, as strange as it is cured his wound without any pain to Falcon. However, he noticed that he is being taken out of the temple and he wondered what the heck is going on out there. He suddenly knew why as the temple elder said some words in the Old Language that roughly mean "Creator God of the World! Please accept this offering blah blah blah. Falcon knew that they are performing some type of ritual to their gods so he looked around for anything that might help him escape this vile place. He found a dagger by his side which he can use to cut his ropes. When he finally got free, he suddenly found himself facing three more Vedian warriors approaching his corridor. He confidently cut down all three of them and grinned in the end. He left the temple and sees Ileo again. She tells him that they have to leave again because apparently now more reinforcements have come to the temple. After they have left, they decided to hop onto a train for the next temple, Nullius. 

     ***Ileo POV***

Unlike their previous stops, this stop feels abandoned. "Almost with no life", Ileo commented as they make their stop. Like there might be something wrong she thought nervously. Falcon just shrugged in confusion. However, when Falcon is sleeping during the night, she went out and tried to discover the mysteries behind the apparent"ghost town."She asked the innkeeper and he told her that, seventy years ago, an enormous army burned the city to a crisp. Most of the people who didn't make it were the poorest peasants who farmed the land, as they have no money to buy their freedoms. Now, the only people who actually live here now are the descendants of these poor farmers and merchants. She decided to explore a ruin to see if the stories are true or not. Just before she is about to go to the ruins, a large horde of undead monsters started surrounding her on all sides. When she was little, there was this event called the apocalypse that was often mentioned in the old stories but she never thought that this event is actually real so that came as a shock to her. As the undead approached her, she tried any means of fighting back but to no avail. She grabbed her katana and killed a bunch of them but more just keep filling their dead comrade's places. As she thought of home, she stumbled into a magic blue orb that she remembered holding back home. Her grandma told her that it is filled with immense power that can destroy an army. She threw it at the army of undead and is happy to know that it took full effect. Unfortunately, the power of the orb seems to be a little too strong as it not only wiped out the army but also all of the living creatures of the forest as well.

Suddenly, the orb is as cold as a piece of ice on a cold winter day as it simotaniosly tries to invade her mind and her body at the same time. She feels like she couldn't control herself anymore until a voice pierces through her thoughts "Hey are you alright " It's Raymond. He brings an elderly man who wears a navy blue robe enchanted with magic. He helps her get out of the spell but she passed out due to exhaustion. When she woke up, she said"Thanks, Raymond for saving me out there" and then proceeded to inspect the old man, who by now turned thirty years younger. Ileo felt very confused and asked Raymond "How long was I out for?'

Raymond gave her a smirk and responded "Two weeks."Ileo then rubbed her forehead 'Has it really been that long?' She looked at the surroundings around her and sees a huge building. It looked like she is in the hospital but she also sees signs directing to the granary and defensive systems." Where am I" she asked out of curiosity. Raymond looked at his officials for a second thinking about whether they should tell her. For that moment it was as still as a pool of water. As she realized what was going on: that she is in the underground city of Unfecrow. When she recovered, she began exploring her surroundings. From what she overheard in conversations, she knew that the city is run by Raymond himself, which she took as a surprise because Raymond seems only a few years younger than her. She also knew enough to know that she is no longer in the Kingdom of Laptis, where she spent the cold, chilly night with Falcon. Instead, she seems to be on the other side of the border.Ileo panicked what is she going to do.However, just then she heard a voice inside her head don't worry the voice said 'I will help you get out of here
