"HEY d" caroline muttered, walking into her brothers room. her mind was chased with horrid thoughts. scenarios wandered into her brain, making her doubt this entire secret relationship she had going on with pacey.

he looked up, faintly smiling at his twin. "hey, care. whats up?" he asked, shutting the tv off.

"i just wanted to talk about some things" her nerves racked up, falling onto her like a water fall. as she was about to speak, her eyes slowly looked over at the tv. "what are you watching?"

"the last picture show" he answered, looking between her and the screen.

"isn't that the same movie we watched with mom and dad before i—"

"before you left for england? yeah" he chuckled, smiling at her. "we never even got to see the end"

caroline sighed, sitting down on his bed. "well, how does it end?"

"well, there's 3 friends that grew up together. two siblings, actually. pretty accurate, huh?" he joked, referencing the himself and caroline.

"very" she muttered, wary.

"jeff bridges is siblings with cybill shepherd. they weren't really close, but she was close with the other guy. grew up to all be best friends, and at some point along the road, the other guy and cybill fall in love. it destory's their friendship, and in the end, everyone, uh, ends up hating each other"

caroline's breath got caught in her throat, frowning. she looked down at the floor, with her heart aching. "i, uh, just remembered. i was going to meet jen. i'll see you later" the excuse was rushed, and poor. caroline was swift to hop out of the window, traveling down the ladder. she needed to get to pacey, and quick.

luck was on her side. as the witter boy was about to go up to the steps of the leery home, caroline rushed to him. "wait, pace!" she said in a hushed shout, grabbing his arm before he could open the screen door.

"oh, hey. what's wrong?" he asked, eyebrows furrowing. his arms wrapped around her, comforting her as he noticed her state.

"look, pacey. we can't do this"

"can't do what?"

"i have to be the one to tell him. i mean, things are really complicated between dawson and i. and then, griffin is going to come back into the picture at some point. it has nothing to do with you. you're perfect in everyway possible, pace. but right now, i need to do this. not you" she ranted, frowning.

"ok, ok, calm down. you want to know the god honest truth? you didn't really want to tell him, did you?" pacey muttered, sadden.

"no, pacey. i tried, i really tried" she shook her head, putting her hands on his face.

"of course you did. let me guess. you failed, right?"

"i thought i heard something down here" dawson chuckled, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he exited the screened in door.
