Yoriichi had passed. He is now a demon slayer. Again.

Being a demon slayer again brought back millions of memories, which 70% of them he did not want to think about.

But some memories were dear to him, and he held them close.

Yoriichi walks home as easily as you please, and he makes it home before nightfall.

Arriving at the familiar house hut, the door smashes open and out comes—

what

she

her

nezuko

Her hair tipped with orange and the pupils of her eyes pink.

Nezuko is standing, very much alive.

Yoriichi felt tears well up in the corners of his eyes. Nezuko...

Nezuko, also noticing her big brother, runs to him.

He grabs her hand and hugs her tightly. He holds in a weak cry.

She embraces him back using the exact same strength.

Tears roll down from Yoriichi's cheek. She's alive.

"You are safe, Nezuko, big brother will take care of you."

He buries his face in Nezuko's shoulder.

"You came back to us alive," Urokodaki's voice was steady.

He brings both Tanjiro and Nezuko into his arms and there they sit, crying all day.

Crying all day made all the other days much shorter.

Fifteen days had passed, and it was time to recieve his new sword. Waiting for the swordsmith to arrive...

Jingling wind bells signaled the swordsmiths arrival.

He came up in front of Yoriichi with a package on his back.

"I am Haganezuka. I have come to deliver Kamado Tanjiro's Nichirin sword."

Yoriichi gave a deep bow.

"Thank you. Please come in."

The swordsmith only kneeled down and took the sword into his hands. Using a gentle manner to display his sword, he was beaming under his hat.

"This is the Nichirin Sword. I forged it."

Yoriichi decided to keep quiet.

"The materials for a Nichirin Sword can be obtained from the mountain closest to the sun. Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Crimson Ore. They produce steel that can absorb sunlight."

"..."

"Mt. Yoko is bathed in sunlight all day long, you see. Never a cloud in the sky, nor any rain."

Listening to Haganezuka was so boring. The smith was still deeply touched by his work.

"...Please come in." Come on...

The swordsmith suddenly whooshes right in front of his face, wearing a clown mask. Yoriichi is mildly surprised.

The swordsmith points his finger at Yoriichi's red hair and eyes.

"Hey, you're a Child of Brightness, aren't you? Now that's what I call lucky."

Huh?

"...Thank you."

What's a Child of Brightness...???

"See how your hair and eyes are a reddish color?" The swordsmith pokes at Yoriichi's hair.

"When a kid like you is born into a family that works with fire, it's considered lucky and a cause for celebration."

"Well... that's good."

"There's a good chance this sword will turn red! Right, Urokodaki?"

"Yeah," Urokodaki mumbles from inside the house.

"Come on, hurry up and draw it. Nichirin Swords are also known as 'Color Changing Swords'. They change color depending on the bearer."

Yoriichi looks from the clown mask to the goblin mask.

He knew what color his sword would turn ever since his past life. He wonders what rumors the demon slayer corps made up about black Nichirin swords. He unsheathes the sword.

Holding this new and unfamiliar sword, he could notice mistakes in the making already. Oh well. Still works. Although he missed his old sword, he couldn't go for it right now. But if one day he goes for it, he hopes that the swordsmith has it well and protected.

The sword turns a inky black. Yoriichi is hit with a wave of nostalgia.

"Oh," Urokodaki says.

Haganezuka sees it.

Haganezuka tries to jump him. However, Yoriichi is too fast for him.

"AND I WAS HOPING I'D GET TO SEE A BRIGHT RED SWORD!! DAMMIT!" He screams.

Yoriichi watched from a corner of the room, concerned.

It made Urokodaki smile. He went from a skinny boy to... still a skinny boy. But much stronger now. He is glad his disciple was so talented. Maybe, he could chop off that man's neck...

A crow flies in through the window. The disruption Hanagezuka was making stopped momentarily.

"KAMADO TANJIRO! HERE ARE YOUR ORDERS!!" It screeched.

"Night after night, young girls have been vanishing! Hunt down the demon lurking there and kill it! Tanjirou Kamado, prepare yourself well for this task!"

"This is your first assignment as a Demon Hunter!"

My first assignment...

Technically not, but yes.
