I wasn't even planning on going to the party that night. The only reason I decided to go was to get away from my mom. She had only just got home and all she had done since she walked through the door was moan at me.
"You're not going anywhere till you've cleaned this entire house! I shouldn't have to come home to such a mess," she complained.
"I'll clean it when I get back," I groaned, just desperate to escape her constant criticising.
"Y'know I thought once you got rid of that boyfriend you might have come to your senses and start to act responsible again, but here we are five months on and nothing has changed!" she yelled.
I left the room without another word and ran upstairs to get ready. I wore an orange corset dress with strappy heels and some gold hoops. I rushed through my makeup routine and left my hair down to save me having to spend anymore time at home.
My mom was calling after me as I left but I just ignored her and got into the Uber. I wasn't even sure whose party I was going to, I just knew pretty much everyone was going to be there.
When I arrived the party was already in full swing, the music was blaring and the entire house was overcrowded. I managed to slip past people to get to the drinks table where I completed my party ritual, one shot before I pour myself a proper drink.
As I sipped my drink I looked around trying to spot any of my friends in the crowds. I noticed Jules and Rue out in the backyard so I attempted to make my way over to them. That was until I came crashing into someone's chest.
"The fuck?" I heard a familiar voice mutter.
I looked up to see that dreaded face. Ashtray was now looking down at me with a soft expression, "Uh..hey Winnie."
"Hey Ash," I weakly smiled, "long time no see."
"Tell me about it," he chuckled although his face looked slightly saddened. Before I could even respond our conversation had been interrupted.
"Ash! I was wondering what was taking you so long," a short girl spoke. I recognised her as the same brunette I had seen Ashtray with at the last party.
"Sorry Sof, I was just catching up with Winnie," Ash awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.
The girl darted her eyes between me and Ashtray before frowning at him, "Well are you gonna introduce us or..?"
"Uh yea. Sofia this is Winnie, Winnie this is Sofia," he nodded to both of us as he spoke.
