We got up early the next morning, wanting to get the most out of the day before we had to travel home. We had breakfast at the lodge before checking out and driving over to the next location on our list, the Bixby Creek Bridge.
Since we arrived early the area was pretty much deserted other than a few other people scattered around. The sun was still rising and it only made the view all that more beautiful.
I took a couple pictures as Ash began to wander closer to the bridge. I didn't take much notice of it until he started to walk on the outside of the bridge.
"Ash, be careful!" I cautioned as he sat on the ledge that looked out at the view.
He turned to me with a bland expression, "Are you gon join me or what?"
"I don't know if that's very safe," I replied hesitantly, looking down at the ridiculously big drop below.
"Cmon, don't be such a baby. It's fine," he insisted as he patted the spot beside him.
"You're literally going to be the death of me," I muttered before slowly making my way over to him. I clung onto the side of the bridge to steady me as I edged closer to Ash.
He held his hand out once I was close enough, which I gratefully took as I crouched down carefully to sit beside him. "See, that wasn't so scary, right?" he cooed.
"The view is a lot better from here," I mumbled as I took in the scenery. All my fears faded as I looked out at the sunrise, still hand in hand with Ash.
"Thank you for bringing me here," I turned to him with a small smile.
"You're welcome, shawty. Thank you for telling me about this place," he returned the smile, "I think we deserved some time away from everything."
"Yea, I think so too. The last couple months have been a lot," I chuckled lightly, thinking back to everything.
Ashtray nodded in agreement before bringing my hand up to his lips and placing a tender kiss over my knuckles, keeping eye contact the entire time. I could have melted in that exact moment if it wasn't for the fact we were sat up on a bridge, feet dangling in the air.
I managed to build up the courage to pull my phone out again, taking a couple more pictures of the view. I even managed to persuade Ash to be in a few of the pictures, which was very rare considering he was awfully camera-shy.
