"Taehyung!" Leonard Daniel, the only child of the family greeted the guy as soon as he split up with his family.
"Leonard, it's been a while hasn't it?" The man politely smiled, hiding his distaste.
Leonard was one of those guys whose wealth was used the wrong way. Ever since he grew up, due to his parents neglect, he grew up having sleepovers in prison cells, but was bailed with money all the time.
He grew up never facing consequences, and it reflected on his actions, however his family's power and business relations still had most people acting courteously in public, hiding their distaste as he was still an influential member of high society.
Politeness was the only way. Everyone present in that room already had or had to master the act of hiding behind a mask.
After all the true plays are the ones hidden with a bluff.
"It has. It's hard to get a hold of you, and seeing you here is rare as it is." Leonard mused taking a flute of champagne from a passing waiter.
"I wouldn't say I'm that anti social now, am I?" He asked, as his eyes glanced at the women who were blatantly staring at him as they passed by, a few at numerous times.
"Eh it's not really that. Every time there's an event, it's usually, if not always, around here, both the Alinac and Clyde families are usually invited, and it's a rare sight to see either one of the heirs participating. Somehow tonight, both of you turned up." Leonard piqued an eyebrow as Taehyung automatically glanced around.
"Her too?" He asked as he momentarily spotted her, but brought his eyes back to Leonard, not his attention though.
"Yeah. Whatever, I'll catch you later. I've got to greet people now, hosting family or whatever." He waved s little too friendly than they were and roamed in the distance.
Somehow, his eyes sought after the mentioned figure again, but he physically froze when he saw who she was talking to.
Layla Noel Ruth.
His mind stopped working.
Questions scrambled in his head as he couldn't figure out what their possible conversation was about.
He wanted to go over there.
Stride over, pull those two women away from each other.
If those two were together, he couldn't help but wonder if there was a certain possibility that they were plotting against him.
It would've made perfect sense for them to.
The ex boyfriend and the enemy familial heir?
Some friends are made through mutual enemies they say.
And sometimes, those are the pairs you need to really watch out for.
Before he made the mistake to walk forward, a hand paused him and steered him away instead.
"I know what you're thinking, but for your sake, don't make a scene here. That'll put you in a even worse place, after all." Jimin spoke as Taehyung sighed, grateful for his best friend.
"How bad could it have been? 'Ex boyfriend too jealous? Ex boyfriend jealous of rival family's heir?" He joked as Jimin shook his head.
"'Heir to Clyde bashes Charity event for personal reasons.' I think that trumps all." Jimin chuckled as Taehyung snickered as well.
They stopped by a relatively quieter place, and as Taehyung turned back to grab a drink, he saw the two women oddly smiling and clinking their glasses together, and he felt unsettled by the fact that they looked as satisfied as they were.
