"Hey there." Jisoo smiled as Jennie finally woke up, her head pounding at that as she flailed her arm around weakly.
"Here." Jisoo handed knowing what her best friend would want after being with her for years.
"Jane..." she started as Jennie sighed.
"How'd I get here?" She asked as Jisoo pursed her lips momentarily.
"Taehyung brought you home. He knew you would prefer a home doctor over a hospital, so after making sure it was nothing serious he had you transferred here." She explained as Jennie nodded, still sipping at her water.
"But jendeuk.." Jisoo paused as Jennie looked at her at the mention of her well embedded nickname.
"You should've seen him, he looked like he was going to die of stress. It really felt as if he was about to tear the place apart until he heard you were okay. When I asked him what happened.. well... he hesitated before saying that you had an intense conversation. He didn't say anything else though, only told me to ask you." Jisoo continued as the latter nodded, not knowing what to say.
"He well.." she started as she desperately searched for a way to make it seem easier to say.
Seeing as there was nothing, she just decided to throw it out there.
"He asked me to marry him." Jennie confessed as Jisoo immediately choked on air.
"What? When? At the gala? But what about the companies. Hold on... Is that why you fainted?" Jisoo asked as Jennie nodded her head.
"He said he'd give it all up, just for me to marry him. He said he was in love with me..." she continued as Jisoo gasped, hitting the bed repeatedly before standing up, and then immediately sitting down.
"Wait hold on... you said yes right?" Jisoo asked with caution, looking at her left hand sneakily before glancing back.
This time, Jennie remained silent before shaking her head.
"What?!" Jisoo exclaimed as Jennie winced, knowing this was coming.
"B-but he said.... You guys are literally meant to be Jen! You even said you were in love with him, and that you wished for a future with him. What changed?!" She exclaimed as Jennie bit her lip.
"Nothing changed... it's just that wants can't always be achieved soo." Jennie started as Jisoo only looked confused.
Jisoo was about to say something again but was cut off by a knock on her door.
"Ms.Alinac, we hate to disturb you but, you have a visitor. Mr.Clyde, to be specific." The head maid peeped through, as she hesitated towards the end of her sentence.
Jisoo and Jennie just looked at each other with the same look, before Jennie nodded at her maid.
"Send him in." She said as she made sure to pull the blanked even closer to herself.
Taehyung walked through a moment later as Jisoo left, giving the two some privacy, especially after what happened.
"Hey." He greeted as she hesitantly looked at him.
He looked drained, his hair a mess and little to no effort into the basic work clothes.
"Hey." She countered as he set down some flowers next to her.
"Don't worry, I'm not here for the marriage thing. I just came in to check on you." He explained as she nodded, not liking this psychic ability the man had developed over night.
"How long have I been out?" She asked after a moment as he sadly smiled.
"2 days now. You've been on IV. I know your work is hard but hire some people if you need to. Re arrange leadership meetings until you need to. You're health comes first Jen." He scolded like a mother as Jennie unknowingly smiled before recollecting herself.
"How'd you find out I woke up so fast?" She asked after a moment, missing the tiny detail earlier.
Taehyung just shrugged in response.
"I didn't. This is the time I stopped by the other two days as well. Fortunately, you were awake this time. But Jesus. You scared me and everyone at the gala real bad." He explained as Jennie remembered something.
"Don't worry, I told them I found you like that and decided to help. No one thinks anything of it." He eased as she sighed, but she didn't miss the sad look on his features.
"I'll get going then." He ended as the latter was immediately disappointed at the short encounter, but did nothing about it.
She just nodded as he left for the door, but turned at the call of his name.
"Thanks for bringing me home." She says as he nodded.
"Anything for you Jen. Anything." He said in a somber manner before stepping out, and a moment later Jisoo re-entered.
"I don't get it Jen, you both admitted to being in love with one another. The company issue is solved...You're parents aren't a problem either... what's stopping you?" She asked, a lot softer this time as Jennie bit her lip once again, this time tasting the metallic taste of her own blood which prompted her to stop.
"I just can't marry him!" She exclaimed as tears started to roll down her eyes.
"God I'm so weak. I've cried almost thrice because of the same damn thing." She muttered as Jisoo passed along a tissue.
"You're not weak Jen. What you're going through is nowhere near easy. But why do you say that you can't marry him?" She asked as Jennie sighed.
"Because marriage never works around me. I mean stupidly enough the only successful marriage I know is Rosie and Jimin. My parents, his parents, almost every damn socialite marriage, they never work. I can't commit to failure soo." Jennie confessed as Jisoo sympathetically took a hold of her hand.
"But you're different. You're not your parents, or his parents. I mean god, almost every marriage you mentioned was an arranged marriage other than Rosé and Jimin. And the difference? Rosé and Jimin married out of love. And that's what Taehyung proposed. Not a marriage for connections, but a marriage for love. It'll be different. I know that, because you guys have never once seemed like you were not meant to be together since the day I saw you." She said only to be met with Jennie's silence.
"Really?" Jennie goes a moment later, not knowing who she was trying to convince.
"Really. I don't want to be that friend who pushes you towards something, but I want you to think about it, okay?" Jisoo replied as she stood up and placed a kiss on Jennie's forehead.
"Take some rest today, don't worry about work. I need to leave now. Bye jendeuk." She bid farewell as Jennie nodded with a smile.
"Bye soo. Take care." She waved as Jisoo smiled before closing the door, as Jennie was left alone with her thoughts.
