It was a final lap in the airship race between to Skylanders (plus Dark Spyro) and the Doom Raiders and what thought to be a successful race, the Skylander's airship has a busted rotor, causing the airship to slow down as the Doom Raiders flew past. "Cripes! Busted rotor. No need to panic. We can fix this." The captain, Flynn, said as he checked the rotor under his wheel. Smoke came out as he opened the latch and says, "I need someone to grab me a lemonhead screwdriver from below deck." "On it!"
Dark Spyro quickly volunteered and flew down. He went to a room and starts looking for the screwdriver. "What the heck's a lemonhead screwdriver anyway?" Dark Spyro said to himself as he opened up a box. He reached in and held out a tool with what looks like a lemon on top and says, "I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is probably it." Before he heads out, the head of Strykore appeared behind him and says, "What are you doing? Why are you helping them?" Dark Spyro flinched a bit and lies, "I'm-I'm not. I was—I was looking for you. Oh, there you are."
Strykore was not amused and says, "This could be our one chance to take over the Skylands and finally destroying the Skylanders. You DO want that, don't you?" Dark Spyro thought about it until he suddenly has flashbacks of everything he did with his friends and answered, "Yeah, uh, about that. I've been doing some thinking. Maybe we don't have to destroy the Skylanders after we get the Iron Fist." Strykore was enraged and yells, "I beg your pardon?!" Just then, they hear the engine as Flynn was trying to keep the airship balanced from above before saying, "What's keeping Spyro with that lemonhead screwdriver?" Stealth Elf stopped at what she was doing and says, "I'll go check on him."
Mist got up and says, "I'll come with you." Back below deck, Dark Spyro says to Strykore, "I mean, the Skylands are a pretty big place, right? Maybe we can find a way to live there together." Strykore wasn't amused and yells, "I knew I couldn't trust you with this!" That caused Dark Spyro to fall back as Strykore continued, "Not only have you failed to complete the mission, but you've grown soft in the meantime!" Dark Spyro looks at him and says, "Master, please. Let's be reasonable here." Out of nowhere, Mist and Stealth were at the door, shocked to see what they had witness as they both said in unison, "Master?!"
Dark Spyro and Strykore sees them as Dark Spyro flew to them and says, "Guys! It's not what it looks like." Mist clenched her fists and says, "It looks to us like you were turned evil and have been working as a mole for Strykore!" Blaze and Aqua appeared behind her as they growled at Dark Spyro before he says, "Ok, then it's exactly what it looks like." Stealth Elf scoffed and says, "Our best friend...an agent of evil." Dark Spyro felt guilty and says, "Listen, girls. I can explain. I've changed."
"Well, that's news to me." Strykore said in a sarcastic tone as Mist says, "Just wait till everyone hears about this." She then disintegrated into ashes and vanished as Stealth Elf teleported away. Strykore looks at Dark Spyro and demands, "Stop them at all cost!" Dark Spyro didn't want to and says, "I can't! They're...they're my friends." That made Strykore angry and says, "I warned you. Time to tighten my grip."
He then used a dark magic on Dark Spyro, making him groan in pain as his eyes glowed red with rage. Outside, Mist and Stealth Elf stood at the doorway before Stealth Elf yells, "Hey, everyone!" Just then, Dark Spyro flew and tackles Elf in the sky. Mist ignites her feet and flew after them. The others were unaware of what's happening since they're busy with the rotor problem. Dark Spyro and Stealth Elf tacked back onto the ground, causing Dark Spyro to drop the box with the map to Arkus in it and the vile of Marnie Stealth Elf kept with her as the two fight. Inside the vile, Marnie groaned from the pain, so she had her shadow to examine what's going on until she sees Stealth Elf and Dark Spyro fighting each other. The two continued fighting before Stealth Elf kicked Dark Spyro back.
He hit the wall as his horn starts to glow purple before shooting a bolt of lightning at her, trapping Stealth Elf in a purple bubble. Stealth Elf struggled to get out and tried to teleport, but her power has no effect before Dark Spyro says, "You're not getting away that easily." Mist widens her eyes at Stealth Elf's condition as her eyes glowed blue and red. She turns to Dark Spyro and yells, "Let her go!" She then unleashed her ultimate attack on him as Blaze and Aqua grew big as they roared at Dark Spyro. He took notice and flew up to avoid the elemental dragons, letting go an unconscious Stealth Elf as she fell down. Mist caught her and puts her on the airship, before Elf fell down. Mist looks at the box Dark Spyro had, but then she saw the vile near the box. She grabs the vile and sees Marnie's shadow in the vile as she looks at her niece.
