Two days have passed since the Ancient One incident.
We, the council, have fully recovered and just finished our daily meeting.
Everyone else went out to do their own business while Kronii and I were left in the meeting room all by ourselves.
Kronii was paying attention to her paperwork while I was staring at her.
"Does something matter, Fauna?"
Kronii asked me while still staring at the paperwork.
I was surprised when she called me, so I didn't prepare what to say.
"Uh...! Well! You know, Kronii. It's a lot of paperwork for you. I mean....this incident...of the Ancient One."
I stuttered a lot while I tried to organize my thoughts, but Kronii seemed not to notice my odd action at all. She just kept responding with "I see".
I got angry at her inconsiderate action, so I cleared my throat loudly to get her attention.
I did get her attention.
Kronii stared at me when I was able to reorganize my thoughts.
"Kronii, why didn't you give the watch to Amelia-chan? You knew that the watch chose her, right?"
I asked Kronii about her decision to take the watch back after Amelia-chan and her friends came back from the Ancient One incident.
She was the chosen one for sure but I didn't understand why Kronii did that, taking the watch back from her.
Kronii stayed in silence for a while before answering my question.
"An ordinary girl, like her, shouldn't be involved with the mythical problem of us. That's the reason why I took the watch back from her."
I listened to Kronii's answer and realized something.
"Is it about Amelia-chan who died in the Ancient One timeline?"
Once I asked this question, Kronii flinched and stayed in complete silence.
I guessed I was right then.
Without any further explanation, I got my answer.
I stood up, then walked to the silent Kronii.
I put my hand on her shoulder before speaking to her.
"Kronii, you can't escape fate, even if you are the warden of time who has all the time in the world."
After I said that, I walked out of the room and left Kronii alone, so she could have all the time by herself, thinking about her next decision.
