Ch.5 The good days come and go

He waited for me to get dressed out side and I did the same for him. Then we both went to bed after a few minutes because we were laughing and joking around.

Y/n POV
I woke up to laughing outside. I look around and no one is here in the tent. I get up and get dressed and head outside of the tent to find breakfast being made. I walk over to Sophia and Carl and hug them good morning.
"Good morning Y/n!" Sophia says hugging me back even tighter I laugh at this.
"Good morning Y/n/n." Carl says giving me a hug while eating his food. I punch his arm lightly and while he has food hanging out of his mouth he grabs his arm and squints at me. I was laughing so hard again. Me and Sophia decided to get some fish to.  We get up and get some fish and see Carl stuffing his face with more fish. "Carl when did you like fish this much?!" I asked cause I never heard of him liking fish so much before.
"I've always liked fish. But whoever cooked this knows how to deal with fish." Carl says with a gleam in his eyes from this.
"Okay Carl we get it, fish is Amazingggg. No need to almost choke though." I say while sitting down and grabbing salt from my food bag." When did you have salt?" Sophia asked wanting some. I hand it to her when I'm done saying "I always had a bag of spices and food for emergencies. My mother said to always be prepared for everything even if you think it will never happen." I said with my head held high and eating some of those amazing fish.Carl seemed like he was concerned and I looked at him saying "What happened to my mother was terrible but she told me not to be mad at what happened to her. I need to be better then the people around me and that is what I am going to do." I said proudly. Sophia seemed amazed at this and yet at the same time upset. I asked her what was wrong,
"Well it's just that my parents never said something like that to me. And I doubt they ever will." Sophia said hurtful and sad. I hug her and say "Even before I found my mom dying because of those monsters I made a promise to myself that in scary times you need to be a hero and not worry what others will say even if it's nice or mean." Sophia hugs me again and says thank you. I nod and say you welcome. That's when Shane comes over and asked if we wanted to go frog fishing. Sophia said she can't she has to help her mom after she finished eating, Carl agreed and got up. But I was hesitant. Until Carl dragged me along with him so at this point there was no saying no. Shane tells us how and while I'm sitting on a rock Shane and Carl were testing to see their mean faces which was hilarious. It was a hot day out and oh did I mention this is when Rick came back and those motorcycles was a truck. Yeah sorry I left out a lot but it's okay. That's when Lori comes down grabbing Carl and telling him go back up and told me to go with him I did and we were confused but laughing at each other. Rick walked over to us and hugged Carl and me afterwards and said Good morning. Then he started just you know talking to us. Which was fine but I had a feeling something was wrong like I know what it is but I can't see it clearly. Then again even if I had that feeling it wasn't in my right to say anything about it. It's like a secret that I know that no one told me. If that makes sense you know? Right after Rick left to go get some food and to look for Merle, Daryl's brother. Me and Carl said goodbye and got some berries from a nearby bush. "Carl, do those foot prints look like anything to you?" I told Carl who was standing a few feet away from me. He walked over and saw the foot prints. " I don't know, but they look like a buck or something." Carl said examining the foot prints he also said that we shouldn't follow it and that it could we couldn't carry it if we tried. Which he was right but we should let the adults know right away, that's when we ran back and told them the foot prints we found and where they were. But of course they got upset because we ran off without telling anyone. "But we were only in the woods you would hear us if anything happened. We were careful we just went to get some berries." Carl said trying to convince Lori that we had it under control...but that didn't work, what can she say. She is a mother and that is her son. I know my mother would be just as worked up as Lori. "I'm sorry, you're right we should have never gone out there without telling you." I said with my head down. They all were shocked, I usually don't feel bad about that stuff but I guess the grieving is finally kicking in again after realizing how I've been pushing the feelings away instead of facing it, I know mother would've wanted me to face them head on but dad told me that the feelings will be there forever so why not try and destroy them. "Y/n, Carl. If you do that without telling anyone. Both of you are in serious trouble. Do you understand?" Lori said holding us by the shoulder and looking at us both. Carl and I looked at each other and said "We won't do it again." Then she hugged us and told us that it's dangerous alone.
