Star Fairy Chronicles III

Chapter 15

(Note: Some of the writing in the first half of this chapter is not written by me, but rather written by a friend.)

Footsteps were heard from the distance in Starlight's Throne Room. The guards readied their weapons, only for their SOULs to be ripped out and turned back by a dark figure, turning them black in the process. As the being approached the throne room, Queen Starlight stood up abruptly.

"She's here," she said softly, "I never thought she would return." Then, the doors burst open, revealing a villainous woman in the queen's presence. Her skin was an otherworldly green, accompanied by her four arms and tufted tail. Her hair was fluffy and light blue in color, and on both sides of her head were black horns that curled like a sheep's horns. Her lips were applied with purple lipstick and her dress had a sort of bronze sparkle to it with crimson beads on the ends of the skirt.

"Helena!" Starlight snapped, "How is this possible? That seal was never to be broken by anyone."

"I made an unscrupulous deal with a poor, unfortunate soul," Helena said with her usual kind smile, her expression faltering for a mere second, "And I believe I am overdue for what you owe me, wouldn't you say...?"

"Whatever I have does not belong to you," Starlight defended, "Leave this planet now." Helena's repulsive smile ever so slightly twitched.

"Darkmoon, he... he promised me his kingdom! This kingdom! He said it was to be mine after it all was over! It belongs to me, and me alone!" Helena was fuming and was trying her hardest to not lose control, though her pleasant smile no longer was prim and proper and instead revealed her gnarly teeth gnashing together in frustration. "Your throne... his throne... it's mine. It never belonged to you!" Starlight held out her hands in front of her, sweating nervously as she began to summon a spell of light

"I sealed you away once, I can do it again," Starlight stated without much confidence. Helena chuckled as she closed in on Starlight.

"Starlight, I don't think you quite understood what I said..." Helena placed her hand gently on Starlight's shoulder, her grasp threatening to break her claws and dig into her skin. "I never asked you to hand your kingdom over to me. I'm reclaiming what is mine, what is rightfully mine, and I don't think it requires your pitiful consent. I'll take it all back and you'll be helpless to stop me."

Helena's dark magic flowed like a raging river from her fingertips to the victim in her grasp, making Starlight writhe and squirm as the venom she hides behind her smile started to take effect. Starlight clawed at her attacker's arms in an effort to free herself, but the tight grasp moving to her neck stunted her attempts for freedom and muted her plea for help.

Darkness slowly consumed Starlight from the inside out no matter how hard she wanted to fight against it. Dark, abyssal voids started to replace her honey-amber colored eyes and silence choked her lungs. She could feel the life draining from her entire being and here she lie in Helena's iron grip, powerless to stop it.

This was it.

Helena's smile grew wicked as Starlight stopped resisting. She watched as the last bitter, fleeting glimpse of hope drain from her eyes as the darkness consumed her fully. She ragdolled in Helena's hold and went limp, the lively glow of her spirit dissipating into nothingness. She wasn't there anymore, Starlight's body vacant and without emotion. She was but a mere husk now, devoid of any sapience or sentience.

Helena loved seeing how she so wholly overpowered the former queen. Her black-hearted smile with contorted, gnarly teeth only grew as the evil feeling in her heart became larger than before. The evil queen cackled and dropped the lifeless shell to the ground, caressing her beautiful face obsessively.
