The Finale
Part IV: Epilogue
A few days had passed since the fall of Queen Helena. The morning sun shined brightly on Blue's face as she lay in the castle courtyard many, many years ago. She just thought about how bright her future ahead would be. Negative thoughts or worries had vanished completely. She didn't care what the future had in store, just what she had now. As she was about to close her eyes, she heard footsteps come towards her direction. She looked to her right and saw Henry and Artemis standing just beside her.
"Good morning, Blue," Henry began, "This feels all so familiar. Did you sleep outside again?" Blue shook her head and stood up, smiling brighter than the sun.
"No silly," Blue replied, "I just want to be out here on this beautiful morning. Is Layla feeling okay?"
"She's just fine," Henry replied, "Still a bit sad over the loss of Percy, but she's been a bit more outgoing than usual."
"I'm glad she's okay," Blue replied, "Is it okay if I talk to Artemis privately?"
"Sure, I'll give you two some space," Henry replied, taking a step back. Blue then lightly grasped Artemis's hand and headed for the balcony near the throne room.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" Artemis asked while they were walking.
"Nothing in particular," Blue replied brightly, "I just wanted to talk to you about a few things." As soon as they arrived at the balcony, Blue took a deep breath in.
"Artemis, my love," she began, "I don't want to rule this planet. I'd rather live on earth with you back in Ebott Country."
"But, who will rule this kingdom if you're gone?" Artemis asked with concern, "This planet needs a princess, and you're that princess. Don't get me wrong. I want to be with you still." Blue playfully pet Artemis's head, rustling his fur.
"Don't be silly," Blue replied, "This place needs a ruler, not necessarily a princess. I'd happily let someone else take charge. I already talked about it with my parents, and they'll be taking over until we can revive Starlight. Odds are though, she's probably going to reincarnate into someone else, just like me."
"Um, yeah, I've been meaning to ask about that," Artemis stated, "You're the reincarnation of Cosmos. Do you by chance have any of her memories?" Blue's gleaming smile slightly dimmed as she pondered his words.
"I don't, just my own memories," Blue explained, "All I can remember is that I was Cosmos at one point. Even though I'm her, I'm still my own person."
"I guess that makes sense," Artemis responded, "So, now that the multiverse is rid of evil, what do you plan to do next?" Blue walked towards the edge of the balcony and rest her arms on the railing.
"Honestly, I don't know," she began, "I do want to seal away this eternal power until the time is right for it to come out again, but after that, I don't see anything in the future. My visions have ceased for now. I know there is still evil out in the multiverse, but for now, I think it's best if I just focus on, well, now." Artemis gently joined her at the balcony.
"Remember when I asked you to marry me?" Artemis asked, "Is that still on the table?" Blue gently smiled and kissed Artemis's cheek.
"Of course I do, you silly goat," she replied, "I definitely want to wait a few years, but I do want to spend the rest of your life with you." Artemis raised an eyebrow.
"My life? What about yours?" he asked. He then lowered his raised eyebrow, realizing what she meant.
"Right, because your lifespan is much longer than mine," Artemis stated, "Will you miss me when I pass on?" Blue wrapped her arm around Artemis's shoulders, prompting him to do the same to her.
"Of course," Blue replied, "But let's not worry about that right now. For now, let's just focus on the moment."
The two of them smiled at each other as they closed in, feeling the warmth and love they had for each other. They then turned towards the sunrise with a sense of peace and tranquility, something that had been devoid for a long time. Although evil was at a rest, possibly waiting on the horizon to strike again, Blue had nothing to worry about.
Her only focus was on the present, as the future was always changing.
