Bridgette and I are currently hanging out on the dock. We didn't really have anything to do, plus the cabin was occupied by Leshawna and Gwen, who's upset about Trent being voted off.
"What do you think the challenge will be today?" Bridgette asks me as I dangle my toes in the water.
"Who knows. At this point, we should be prepared for literally anything," I sigh.
Right as I finish speaking, Chris comes over the loudspeaker. "Alrighty, Campers! Everyone to the dock! It's time for your next challenge!" He says excitedly.
Bridgette and I look at each other and shrug. One by one, the rest of the campers show up on the dock, followed by Chris and Chef, who is holding a water gun.
"Today's challenge is a good old-fashioned game of hide and seek. You all get ten minutes to hide before Chef Hatchet comes looking for you. With his military background and advanced degree in man-hunting, he's uniquely qualified to make this game excruciatingly hard," Chris explains.
I look over at Chef as he starts pumping his water gun.
"What's with the water gun?" Duncan asks as Chef aims it at him, a red dot appearing on Duncan's forehead.
"The lifeguard chair is home base. When he finds you, Chef will try to spray you. If you escape his blast, you can try to run to home base. But if he catches you on your way, he'll douse you.
"Ooh, so we're gonna get splashed by a bit of water. Now I'm terrified," Duncan says, pretending to be scared.
Chris smirks at Duncan, "Why don't you demonstrate Chef?"
Chef pumps up the water gun as a worried look crosses Duncan's face. However, Chef turns and blasts Chris instead. A giant wave of water pushes Chris off the dock and over a couple hills. "Not on me dude!" Chris yells at him.
"So, how do we win this game," Heather asks.
Chris walks back over to us, soaking wet. "You've got three options. One, don't get discovered in your hiding place. Two, run to home base before Chef blasts you. Three, once you've been caught, help Chef find other campers. Do any of those, and you win invincibility. All clear?" Chris explains.
Lindsay raises her hand, "Ah..." she starts, but Chris cuts her off. "You've got ten minutes to hide. Go!"
Everyone scatters. I watch Duncan sprint into the woods, the rest of the guys right behind him, causing an uneasy feeling in my stomach.
/" Okay, seeing all the guys follow each other into the forest during a hide-and-seek type challenge raises some red flags. They are definitely up to something. I can feel it in my gut. Duncan better not be planning something stupid, or he's gonna be in trouble," I say/
I see Bridgette head off in the direction of the campfire pit. I guess that means I'm on my own then. I head off into the woods to find a temporary hiding spot. Knowing Chef, staying in one place probably isn't the best idea. It'll be harder to find me if I keep moving into areas he's already searched. I pick a tall tree with thick foliage near the forest's edge, climbing about halfway up. I'm just far enough away to see the camp but barely hear Lindsay screaming. As I look upon the camp, I see Lindsay run into the washrooms from the girl's cabin, Chris following her. I see Chef come out of the cabin shaking his head. He starts to patrol around the edge of the camp. Izzy appears from behind the cabin and starts following him, copying his every move. Lindsay bursts out of the washrooms and runs off towards the dining hall. Chris comes out of the washrooms shortly after Lindsay and starts walking in Bridgette's direction. I lean back against the tree's trunk and wait out Chef as he continues to circle the camp. Once Chef starts searching away from the camp, I figure I'll probably move to a new hiding place in the camp. After what feels to be about twenty minutes, I hear Lindsay screaming again. I look out to see Lindsay and Heather running for the lifeguard chair, Chef right behind them. As they get to the dock, Chef blasts them, causing them to fall on top of each other. He stands over them triumphantly before making them follow him to the dining hall.
