Chapter 9 C-Rank Mission

After all those D-rank missions that team 7 have done, they were in the Hokage tower, where Naruto complains about D-rank missions being boring and unchallenging.

After few long minutes of arguing for a better mission the Hokage decides to agree.

"Very well, you may have an escort mission, it is your first C-Rank Mission, Tazuna you may come in." The third says.

Upon this comment, the door opens and an old man holding a sake bottle appears and mutters "Are these snot-nosed brats escorting me? Are you sure i'm going to be safe with them? And you the shortest with a stupid grin on your face, are you sure you're a ninja?"

Hearing this snide comment, Naruto is angered and about to pounce on him after realising it was him that the man was talking about. "I'm going to kill you!!" But Kakashi held him back "Naruto you're not supposed to kill the client that we're protecting.

Taking another swig of the sake he says "I'm Tazuna the bridge builder at the land of waves, you better protect me with your lives."

Then they were dismissed and returned home to pack their things.

However, when Naruto and Sasuke went home, they were surprised to find Ai not home, so instead they left a note informing where they would be, much to their disappointment as they wanted to see her before they left, but headed to the gates to wait for everyone else.

Meanwhile........

Ai POV

As I returned from my mission that i took from necessity as only i could complete it, it seemed Naruto and Sasuke left on a C-Rank mission to my surprise. I never would have expected for them to already have one seeing as they have only just recently started out as genins, but i guess it understandable, since they have the stubborn and determined Sasuke and Konoha's number 1 unpredictable ninja Naruto. I chuckled at this thought.

Now reporting to the Hokage, i headed there immediately.

Upon arriving, i had already taken off my old anbu mask and left it at home earlier but leaving on my anbu outfit, i gave the scrolls to the Hokage.

"Fast as ever in completing missions Ai." The hokage complimented.

I laughed lightly "Well, i can't be taking my time can i?"

"Ai, i'm sure you know Sasuke and Naruto has taken a C-rank mission, and i have my suspicions about this, and it may not be as simple as we think, so i'd like to follow up behind them if thats okay with you."

"Of course Hokage-sama, it would be a pleasure." Then i bowed and disappeared, but before heading towards the land of waves i quickly retired home and changed my outfit to something more suitable.

I ran with high speed, catching up to team 7, they wouldn't have gone too far just yet.

I hope they are okay so far, but i sense some unfamiliar chakra ahead, they amount to chunin level.

I should get there quickly, but suddenly remembering that i have marked them with the Hiraishin no Jutsu, i mentally facepalmed.

I'm such an idiot.

Now, as i teleported Naruto, i cursed when trying to block the chains from hitting Naruto, it caught onto his hand. Thinking quick, i was glad Sasuke had quick instincts and was already attacking the 2 chunin level rogue ninjas. I sped in front of the ninja and hit him with a chakra scalpel, rendering his muscles useless. It was effective as he fell back, but then at that moment when the other began to run towards the bridge builder and Sakura, sasuke appeared in front of her but Kakashi decided to intrude.

"Yo~!"

I just simply deadpanned at his entrance.

"Kakashi-sensei!! you're alive!!" they all exclaimed while i just stared at Kakashi and walked up to him and then whacked him on the head.

"Kakashi-san! i know you probably had a reason to do what you did, but couldn't you have chose a different idea rather than letting them think that you're dead!" He merely smiled nervously at me when i said this.

"ehehe fancy seeing you here Ai..."

I narrowed my eyes at him "I forgive you this time, but the next time my Naruto and Sasuke are in danger, then......" i trailed off as a warning.

"Maa~Maa~ t-this was just simply a test for them to see how they'd react in this situation and to see who they are after."

I nodded and walked towards my team.

"Ai ka-chan! why are you here?" Naruto asked me. Sasuke seemed to wonder that too, having seen his gaze wander over to me and Naruto.

"Well, Naruto since i'm been assigned to your missions when they are above D-rank, i was on a mission previously so as soon as i finished it then i headed here on orders by the Hokage himself." I explained to him.

Then i realised that i had almost forgotten that Naruto was hit by the claws and they seem to have poison in them when Kakashi shouted.

"Naruto! Don't move, those claws that hit you have poison in them, otherwise it would spread."

He stopped, and seemed to be contemplating something when Kakashi was asking if they should head back to the village but Naruto decided to stab his hand with a kunai.

"I swear on this wound that i will protect the old man! I won't lose to Sasuke!"He shouted and declared to us.

Then Kakashi broke the moment and said whilst smiling "Naruto its great and all how you got the poison out on your own but if you lose any more blood, you're gonna die."

It took a moment for Naruto to digest this information when he started sweating profusely and turning purple "AAHHHH! Kakashi-sensei!! I don't wanna die yet!! I'm too young!!"

I sweatdropped at this and gave a playful glare to Kakashi

"Naruto , you're not gonna die, now let me see your wound." Taking his hand into mine i observed it, seeing it head lightly, i still covered my hand in green healing chakra, and started healing it, increasing the pace it was going at.

"Arigatou Kaa-chan!" He said whilst smiling brightly at me, i then ruffled his hair "Good as new. Now shall we go? We have a long journey."

Then we headed to the land of waves, but i had a feeling that we will come across another ninja and probably higher than Chunin.

However, there was again that uneasy feeling of something like before, it was a bit worrying, then i was brought out of my thoughts by a hand on my shoulder.

"Ai? Are you okay?"

Looking up to the voice, i stared into dark obsedian eyes with worry, i nodded and replied meekly giving a small smile"I-I'm fine, just a bit tired is all."

He didn't look like he believed me but accepted it anyway, and now we walk off into the direction of the wave country.
