Chapter Two. (Elizabeth's POV)

Well, hello school.

Bakit ba kasi kailangan na pumasok? Para sa mga katulad namin, di naman namin matatapos ang High School. Depende sa sitwasyon.

Pero hindi naman ito ang primary problem ko, I just don't want to share the same school with other teenagers like me, like I was some kind of stone around diamonds. Whilst they shine and glitter, I sank at the bottom, losing the things I don't even own.

Inayos ko nalang ang hood ng jacket ko at naglakad ng tahimik, unnoticed. I prefer it that way, no one will come in my way.

Somehow, I thank Caesar. Caesar Maximus Supremus, let's say that he is our ruler, the one who balances everything, the one who protects us for over a couple of millennium from humans. Not that they'll kill us or what, but, he kept everything smoothly hidden from humans, like how we use or abilities in public, he can make those moments look normal, but only to humans. Just like our palms, people can't see the lines embedded on it, but that excludes us, we can see everything that has something to do with our world.

So, I thank him. Kahit papano, may ilang tao na hindi malalaman ang kung anong kaya kong gawin. Well, except for my Aunt Renee, she's been a human since I was born. Kaso, may abilidad sya na makita nya ang mga bagay na patungkol sa mundo namin. Mayroon din kasing mga tao na may ganoong kakayahan, somehow, most of them took the responsibility to take care of us.

Bata palang kami, hindi na namin kasama ang mga magulang namin. Busy sila sa ibaba. And left us, their children, here until our 17th birthday.

Pinalaki kami ni Aunt Renee na may pag-asang maiiba ang kapalaran namin, na pwede kaming maging saver, tinuruan kami ng lahat ng magagandang bagay. But of course, who could've reverse the curse? My elder brother's 17th birthday came, and I saw the Grim Reaper, right in our doorstep. And I know, he is a burner.

Then a couple of nights after his birthday, he left and we knew where he went. Then it was my sister's turn. She wasn't expecting then Grim Reaper that day, so, she screamed. She panicked, and then, she was dragged under.

Even though those happened when I was just 8 years old, the memory is somewhat fresh, like it just happened yesterday. But no, that was years ago, and now, I know I'll face the exact same thing. I'm well-prepared.

It took me a couple of minutes until I found my class. Physics.

I sat down on the stool near the window, where I can see the bright sky above me. Hovering over like a perfect canvass of blue, cerulean strips, glittering sapphire with a touch of pearly white clouds and a ball of fire. I could freeze this moment and live with it for a lifetime. But that's stupid. Nature's miracles should be live by good. And I'm a freak. Too bad.

"Look who's in here" I don't have to glance to know who that voice belongs to.

"Oh, my dear Elizabeth Collins" she snickered.

I mentally rolled my eyes.

"Wow, look at you, akala mo kung sino ka na ah" she stood in front of me.

"Bakit kilala mo naman ako, tas tatanungin mo kung sino na ako?" Sagot ko.

She looked at me from head to shoe.

"You burner" the words stung my ears.

"Well, gusto mong ibalik ko sayo yung sinabi mo at papalitan ko ng 'you saver'? Wag nalang." I replied.

Magsasalita pa sana sya ng tumunog na ako school bell, hudyat na magsisimula na ang klase. Saved by the bell.

As if on cue, our professor stepped inside the room.

Yung kumausap sa'kin for a couple of minutes ago is Ashley Achevens, kagaya ko sya, madali lang naman malaman ang mga extraordinary dito sa school, look only at ther palms, then you'll know.

Ashley is a brat, a saver, from pureblood Achevens, sikat ang pamilya nila because they possessed the gift of achievement, never pa silang natalo in anything, a charm that runs in their blood. A charm na minsan ko ng kinainggitan.

Kagaya ng ibang estudyante, gusto ko na lang din tulugan ang way ng pagdi-discuss ng prof. Nakakaboring.

Halos lahat ng kaklase ko biglang napatingin sa pinto ng bumukas iyon.

It revealed a new student, by the way he looks, I know bago sya dito.

He smiled widely sa professor namin tsaka pumasok, "Sorry po, late po ako" sabi nya.

"Go find your seat then, di ko na kailangang gawin yun para sa'yo I suppose" sagot naman ni Mrs. Miller.

Naglakad sya papasok, unfortunately, yung katabing upuan ko ang bakante, pero hindi sya umupo sa upuan na yun, besides doon sya sa malapit kay Ashley.

Well, I can't blame him, unang tingin pa lang sa'kin, matatakot kana.

Then I was surprised when he suddenly looked at me.

I was caught by his eyes, that looks like the sky, like the ocean, bluer than that, and then, I want to swim inside those eyes.
