Stone's POV

I sat silently in the diner as Hendrix whispered something to Lana making her laugh, and Brennan continued speaking to me. I wasn't listening, he had been talking for over ten minutes now, and I had finally decided to block him out.

My food sat untouched before me, the events of earlier in the day stealing my appetite. I thought I had been doing something good by getting Ella that publishing firm, but the look on her face and the absolute pain behind her eyes made me think I did something wrong. I hated that I hurt her. I did not know what I did.

"Stone."

I looked up to meet Brennan's irritated gaze. "What?" I bit out.

"I asked you if you're available to meet with the contractors and our lawyer tomorrow. We're negotiating with that Dolan guy who owns Madison Square Garden to see if we can buy land off of him."

I frowned and crossed my arms across my chest. "What land?"

"Some plot that he bought a couple of years ago right next to the arena. He was planning on making Madison Square Garden bigger, but we might be able to buy the land off of him and make a colosseum here."

Lana clapped her hands and leaned forward- at least as much as she could with Hendrix's arm tight around her. "Yes! Good idea. Then we can move Litora Bello here permanently, and you can be closer to Ella, Stone!"

Ella. I grunted and didn't reply to her, staring back down at the floor.

Brennan groaned. "C'mon Stone, can you just say yes or no? Will you be available tomorrow? We just have to show up at some office at like ten in the morning. Our lawyer will do most of the talking."

"Fine," I muttered and clenched my jaw as the thought of Ella once more crossed my mind. What the fuck did I do?

Alan Sonet, our assistant, walked into the diner briskly, a phone in hand. "Mr. Stone?" He asked firmly, although I could see his chin quivering. He had only been our assistant for a month, but Brennan wouldn't allow me to fire him, even though he was an awful worker who harassed half the fighters. Brennan said it didn't look good for Litora Bello if we fired an assistant every other week. I told him it didn't look good for Litora Bello if his bitch face was on the cover of it, and he didn't speak to me for a week.

So, Alan Sonet is still hired.

"What do you want?" I grumbled, staring him down.

He stepped back slightly and then gestured to his phone. "Uh... Someone wants to speak to you."

I glared at him. "Answer their fucking questions yourself, I'm not in the mood."

He put the phone to his ear. "Hi, Mr. Stone isn't available right now. Do you have any questions I can answer for you?"

He frowned and stretched his arm out once more to give the phone to me. "She says she needs to speak to you."

I frowned in annoyance. "Who the fuck is it?"

"She says her name is Ren?"

Ren? I recognized that name. It was probably one of the fighter's girls.

He cleared his throat making me look back at him. "She says it's about Ella."

My heart stopped. "What the fuck do you mean?" I bit out and grabbed the phone from his hand, pressing it to my ear.
