Two Months Later

"Mrs. Stone," Stone smirked as he pulled me close to him, gripping my jaw to tilt my lips to meet his. "Fuck, I love calling you mine."

I laughed and kissed him back, relishing in the newfound happiness that had come into my life. Stone and I had just gotten back from our very long honeymoon, and despite his reluctance, he was going back to work that day.

I couldn't wait to surprise him with the news. It had only been a week since two strips appeared. Two strips that would change our lives forever. I had gone to the doctor a few days before to confirm the stick's results, and I had spent the last few days trying to find the right moment to tell him the news. I still wasn't sure when would be the right time.

I gave him a smile and patted him on the chest. "I'll be okay, you go to work," I murmured, internally laughing at how clingy he was.

The second we both said 'I do,' Stone became more attached to me than he had ever been, nearly always refusing to leave my side. For a week straight he refused to allow me to go to work, and when I reminded him that he had made me the manager of Harley Publishing and that I had to go manage cause that was my job, he grumbled and said he'd fire me to keep me at home.

One minute of silent treatment had him revoking his words almost immediately.

I managed to pry him off me, avoiding the sad look in his dark eyes. If he became any more attached to me his cells would merge with mine and we would become one person. That would be hard to explain to people.

"I love you," I said, kissing him quickly and grabbing my handbag.

"Excuse me?" He growled, grabbing me and pressing his lips to mine roughly, enveloping me in a kiss. We stayed intertwined for a few minutes until he pulled back and cradled my face in his hands. "That is how you kiss me goodbye."

I laughed and nodded, saluting him. "Yes, sir!"

His eyes darkened and he pointed to the door. "Go to work before I lock you in here with me."

My eyes widened and I squeaked, waving to him as I ran out the front door.

"Don't run, you'll get hurt!" He called to me as I ran down the hallway.

I continued running as I shouted, "okay!"

After a few hours of drafting emails and answering calls from agents in my office, I hurried over to Ren's workspace to talk to her. Being manager definitely had its salary perks, but I had my own office and I missed being in a cubicle next to Ren. I basically spent my workdays in her office, work much less enjoyable without my best friend to gossip with.

"Hi," I slid behind Ren, ruffling her hair before leaning over her shoulder to see what she was working on. "Isn't that the author that dropped Harley Publishing a few months ago?"

Ren turned to me and smiled in greeting. She turned back to the computer and pointed at some words on the screen. "She wants us to work with her again. Apparently ever since you started leading the firm we've had an increase in sales and agents are now begging us to take their clients."

I grinned. "That's awesome."

Ren nodded, "hell yeah it is. We finally have quality writing to work with."

I paused when my phone went off, quickly answering it. "Hello? This is Ella Stone, Harley Publishing."

A woman's high voice came through the line. "Hi, Mrs. Stone, I'm Meera Bhatt with the New York Times. We are doing an edition on Litora Bello and were wondering if you'd be interested in a contract between Harley Publishing and the New York Times for an autobiography on your experiences between you and Valentine Stone, the owner of Litora Bello? Harley Publishing would be responsible for the editing and publishing of the autobiography, but the New York Times wants to sponsor and help with the marketing. We'd love you to come in next week to talk to us."
