I had no idea I was going to carry you in my heart for a lifetime when we first met.
It all started so innocent,
yet fate sure did have plans for us two.
I see you and feel you everywhere
like you are a part of my senses,
like you're bound to forever play games with
my mind.
I taste you in raindrops that fall on my lips;
I see you as the sky changes color in the afternoon.
I smell your scent only to realize it's
somebody else's perfume.
I danced through storms with your voice in my head saying "It'll pass."
I never fought a battle alone for my memories of you keep me safe and sheltered.
I guess we met for reasons beyond the physical.
And that I loved you beyond presence, beyond touch. For everytime I come home expecting you finally left,
your phantom waits by the door and tells me:
"It's okay to remember. It's okay not to forget."
