Love
spent years sitting right under our noses
Love
furiously waved a neon flag right before
our very eyes
but
Life
shook love out of her balance
Life
put up a blinding detour sign
until we both lost our ways
I'm not sure when we'll see
love again or if life ever
allows us a glimpse of her
But there are nights when
I can almost feel her
I can imagine her glowing
in the dark with her
faded neon flag telling me:
"It was worth it seeing
you almost made it
It was worth it knowing
you almost had it"
Love tried patiently
but life won surely
