NARRATOR POV
➳♡゛
By the time Poppy got to school the outside parking lot was already crowded with new and old students. They were separated into their groups, mostly stereotypes. The jocks, nerds, the theatre kids, you get the idea.
Poppy dodged and weaved through the crowds as she made her way to the main doors, she as almost certain Stella was inside somewhere, maybe by her locker lip-locking with some new boy. The halls inside weren't as crowded as the outside area. Turning the corner and there she was, Stella Jones, Poppy's best friend since the first grade!
Standing beside her Poppy let out a small cough grabbing her attention, she smiled and threw herself against Poppy causing the feeble girl to stumble back and fall to the floor. Sharing a look the pair burst into fits of laughter on the floor earning themselves a few judgemental glares from a group of basketball players.
When the pair's hysterics died down enough Stella stood up and offered a hand to Poppy, pulling her to her feet. Holding back a small chuckle Stella exclaimed, "I haven't seen you in ages Poppy!"
"It's been two days Stel." She said.
Throwing her arm around Poppy's shoulder Stella threw the other one out, "Are you excited for this year? I am. Think of all the boys!" She squealed, "Speaking off," Stella began.
Poppy interrupted, "I'm excited for this year to be over." She told her.
Stella giggled ignoring her best friend's sarcastic remark, "Come on it's the last year of school what do you mean? Maybe this will be your year, maybe you'll actually get a boyfriend."
Poppy grimaced, "Yeah... no. I don't want that Stel."
Stella moved, closing her locker as she turned Poppy towards her and placed her hands firmly on her shoulders securing her to the spot. Poppy glanced at the basketball players lingering around the halls waiting for the bell to ring, most were staring and laughing to themselves.
"You haven't had a boyfriend the entire time I've known you and it's been eleven years Poppy." She told her.
"You've been keeping count?" Poppy asked, raising a brow.
"Of course, what type of friend would I be if I didn't get involved in your love life. Which is none existe-!" She shouted.
Covering her friends Poppy harshly shushed her, "Ew." Pulling her hand away Stella held a sly grin on her face as Poppy wiped her spit covered hand against her pant leg, "That was disgusting."
Stella just giggled to herself as the first bell rang, "Shit what lesson you got?" She quickly asked Poppy.
"Uh, biology."
"I have maths, we will continue this conversation later!" She called out as she walked down the hallway.
"Ugh," Poppy mumbled as she walked in the opposite direction.
