NARRATOR'S POV

Poppy's eyes sprung open as her phone buzzed beneath her pillow, startling her she pushed herself back and found herself on the floor with a hefty thud. Groaning she picked up her phone, with shaking hands she answered the call, "Hello?" Her voice was mumbled and hoarse.

"Did I wake you?" Jasper asked from the other end of the phone.

She just hummed, there was a brief moment of silence before her eyes widened and she exclaimed, "Why are calling me?"

Jasper chuckled, "I'm picking you up for school, you want to make this believable, don't you? Or do you want to back out? I wouldn't stop you."

"It's only six forty-five, why?" She whined.

"Because the breakfast diner opens at seven. What's your address? I'll come to pick you up in ten." He said.

Slapping at her cheeks Poppy finally fully wakes up looking down at her phone she puts it on speaker before saying, "I'll text it to you." Then she hung up.

What is wrong with me? Why did I ever think this would be a good idea? I should call it off, tell Stella the truth but then Stella wouldn't let it go. I'd be teased for eternity. Then somehow everyone would find out and I'd be a laughing stock of the school. I'd never be able to show myself in public again.

And not to mention Jasper is pretty recently out of a relationship with Riley Smith, she's the head cheerleader. It was at the start of summer everyone was posting about it, it was everywhere. What if people think I was the reason? I wasn't but they wouldn't know that would they.

Jasper is way out of my league,  why would he even agree to it. He probably doesn't, he might just be doing it to humiliate me. He seems too nice to do that but what do I know. I hardly know him. I feel like this whole thing will end in disaster.

My stomach growled I hadn't eaten since lunch yesterday and even at that lunch I barely touched my food. Fuck, I'm really going to do this. I repeat this will end in disaster. You hear yourself, Poppy, listen to your busy brain. Disaster.

What have I gotten myself into? What's wrong with me?

NARRATOR'S POV

Quickly standing up Poppy held a stoic expression on her face as she took a breath, it was like she had forgotten how to breathe. Her lungs felt tight as she caught her breath, texting Jasper her address.

Throwing her phone to the bed she begins readying herself. Casual clothes, she reminds herself, It's just like every other day.

Casual clothes on she brush her teeth before there was a notification from her phone. Checking the notification she responds instantly, 'Be right out, getting shoes on.'

After a few moments, there's a honk outside, pushing her feet into her trainers she rushes down the back stairs and picks up her backpack from the front of the door. Her dad likes to make sure it's packed for her. Since the store opens at eight he is usually awake before her to make sure everything is ready.

"Bye, dad!" She shouts about the store.

"Going already?" He asks from behind the counter.

"Yeah, bye."

Walking out the front door she sees Jasper in his blue truck. He waves at her, leaning over her opens the door for her to get in, "I was about to call you. I thought I got the address wrong, you live in a bookstore?" He asked as she climbed into the truck.

Closing the door and putting on her seatbelt she jokes, "What can I say? I am the main character after all."

Chuckling Jasper starts the truck and begins to drive through town.

No going back now Poppy.
