JASPER'S POV

➳♡゛

I don't know why I suggested this, why did I ask to be her fake boyfriend. Nothing good will come of it and it's not like I really want anything from it really. I just hope it's enough to get Riley off my back.

She's my ex we broke up at the start of the summer break back at the end of May, it was only the first week. Aaron threw a massive party at his place because his parents were out of town it was an awesome party I asked Riley to go with me because you know she was my girlfriend but she said no, that she was going with her friend, Rebecca. She told me I would see her there and I did see her there in one of the back guest rooms.

The party started out slow until Aaron arrived with a boatload of booze he and a few others had brought with their fake IDs after that everyone got hammered. Expect me, I'm not much of a drinker. I only had about one.

I remember looking around after I arrived for Riley. I couldn't find her at first and presumed she hadn't arrived yet, I lingered around for a while around the edge of the makeshift dance floor that was in the living room and just outside the sliding doors to the back garden. I was looking around for Riley until I saw her best friend Rebecca dancing against Bret, he's another player on my team.

Walking across the dance floor I tapped her on the shoulder and leaned against the wall beside them, "Where's Riley?" I had asked her.

Bret kept his hands against her waist as he carried on grinding against her, she paused as she leaned up towards me. It was obvious she was drunk when she slurred her words as she spoke, "She went to a room upstairs, but shush 'cause I'm not supposed to tell you."

Straight away a pit formed in my stomach as I walked away towards the front of the house where the stairs were. I'm pretty sure Rebecca went back to grinding on Bret.

It took me longer than normal to get upstairs, I have been to Aarons's house so much I knew it like the back of my hand and could walk it blindfolded we've been best friends since we were children. Our fathers work together in the same law firm and our mothers have a shared love of baking, they even opened up a small bakery on the main street together. It's just down the street from Poppy's bookstore.

Anyway, I made it upstairs and I walked down the hallway to the back of the house, the music from downstairs was really loud towards the back of the house and I couldn't hear anything but that. I knocked on the door and when I didn't hear a shout or any noise over the music I presumed no one was in there but my gut was telling me to open the door. To make sure.

So I reached and opened the door. I shut it again when I saw my girlfriend and best friend in bed together. They didn't see me and I left the party afterwards, I probably shouldn't have driven home that night I should have called a taxi. I wasn't in a clear state of mind and I couldn't see clearly over the tears.

But that was then and now I have a fake girlfriend, Poppy. I've never noticed her really apparently we've been going to the same schools since kindergarten. I guess she's just always been quiet and kept to herself. She's nice and seems genuine. She's pretty too. Scratch that she's stunning, I don't know how I've never noticed her before. Probably because she makes it her mission to avoid human interaction at all costs. Hm.

I kind of wish she wasn't my fake girlfriend but my real one. I'm really happy when I'm around her and she makes me smile. I think I actually like my fake girlfriend.
