"Here we are!" Nick dropped his hands from Elphaba's eyes.
"A picnic!"
"Do you like it?"
"That's like asking Glinda if she likes dresses!"
Nick laughed and sat down on the blanket.
Thankfully, he had told Elphaba to wear pants.
Elphaba sat down beside him as Nick pulled a container from the basket.
"My mom made us some lasagna," Nick smiled.
He handed out the dishes.
"This is delicious!" Elphaba exclaimed.
"That's my mom for you. I did not inherit those skills," Nick told.
"I'm not a terrible cook, but not an expert chef," Elphaba said with a laugh.
Once they finished their lasagna, Nick pulled out another container.
"For dessert, i have," Nick opened the lid, "chocolate covered strawberries."
"Where did you get these?" Elphaba asked in awe.
"Are you saying you don't think i made these?" Nick laughed.
Elphaba stared him.
"Alright fine, i bought them from the chocolate shop on the way here," Nick confessed. He took a strawberry and held it out for Elphaba to bite off of.
"I think i just found the one!" Elphaba sighed.
Nick took a bite out of it. "Yep. I want to marry this strawberry."
Elphaba laughed and guided Nick's hand so she could finish off the strawberry.
They continued eating until the containers were empty, all except one.
The pair sat against a tree and faced the sunset.
"Elphaba?"
"Yeah."
"I have something to say."
"What is it?"
"I love you, and i'm not meaning that lightly. I love you with all of my heart. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ever since I met you, i have been happier. The same goes for my parents. They are slowly becoming less sad when thinking about Dorothy. They look at you as a second daughter. I love you and all of your friends, even your father. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Nick, what are you saying?"
"Elphaba Thropp, will you marry me?"
"Nick...i...i..."

Short but sweet, yes? Mwahaha!
