Maverick Duncan Emerson

Maverick
I don't remember the last time I spoke, well I do, but I don't want to. Knock Knock. "Alpha?" I tapped my desk and the door opened. It was Grayson, my beta. And my best friend. "Vick it's late man and we have school tomorrow." He's called me Vick since I can remember, we've been friends since diapers. I nodded and stood, my tall 6'4 frame unfolding from my chair. He was 6'1 and had to look up at me a little. He always had.
I wasn't like most Alphas. I dressed different, I looked different, I thought different. Even in the world of oddballs, I was an oddball. "Night Vick. I'll see you in the morning." He disappeared in his room, I walked to my own. Once in my safe space, I peeled off my clothes and crawled into my big bed. Nobody knew what my room looked like, not even the housemaids. I kept my room clean and changed my own sheets. When I wasn't home or in my room, it was locked and the key was always around my neck. If people needed me while I was in here, they knew to knock and go to my office to wait for me.
I grabbed my half empty bottle of black nail polish off my nightstand and started on my nails. Yeah, I was different, in more ways than one. I was a young Alpha, barely past my eighteenth birthday before all of this was dumped on my shoulders. It's been a little over a year since I became the Alpha of my pack. Black Moon. A strange name I know, but it was home. I was also the only Alpha around this area that didn't have a mate.
I closed the bottle and set it back in its place. Waiting for them to dry, I turned on the t.v. and started watching random shows. After my nails were dry, I pulled off all of my jewelry, exposing my scars. The silvery lines spread all over my arms like spider webs. It's been years since I cut, I had been fourteen when I first took a blade to my skin. Nobody knew and nobody ever will, because this is something that will go with me to my grave.
I turned my light off and pulled the blankets over myself, moonlight spilled through my windows. It calmed me. I closed my pale eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

*Next Morning*
I woke up early like I usually do. The sun was just starting to come out. I rolled out of bed and made it, I yawned as I padded into my bathroom. The warm water of the shower woke me up and washed away yesterday. I got out and dried off. The chill of the morning air gave me goosebumps and I quickly pulled out some clothes from my closet. I pulled them on and dried my hair, styling it to perfection. Grabbing my bracelets off my nightstand, I slid them on my wrists and put in my lip ring. By the time I was done the sky was pale orange, the sun still fighting to come out.
I locked my door behind me and finally took the time to look at what I was wearing. A white dress shirt, a black tie, my favorite black jacket, a pair of black skinny jeans, and my black converse. Yeah, pretty much my normal getup. I walked into the kitchen and cooked myself some breakfast. I left the rest on the counter for Grayson, he would be up soon.
Once Grayson was up, fed, dressed, and in my car, we drove to school. We were in my old black Mustang, my favorite out of the three of my cars. The minute we were out of the car, we were surrounded by students. I silently sighed and began my trek inside, kinda hard to with all the bodies around though. After what seemed like forever, we made it inside and were safely in our first class. I shouldn't have to be here, I have all my other duties to attend to. But Grayson said I should finish high school. It helped when you were at the top of your class.

Another
Great. Another move and another school. I wish my brother would just settle down so I wouldn't have to keep starting at new schools. This was the fourth one this year. Tiredly, I dragged myself out of bed and pulled on some clothes. Actually no I just pulled on my discarded pajama pants and a sweatshirt with a beanie and my gray vans. Yeah, I'm tired of having to keep up appearances. Today's my lazy day anyway. "Corbin get your lazy ass up!" I said slamming his door open. God this fucker can sleep forever. I yanked his blankets off and pulled his pillow away. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes. "What time is it?" "Time for school so get up and get dressed. And for not being up earlier. You get to go get me an icee on the way to school," I said with my hands on my hips. He groaned again and started stretching.

With my icee in my hand, I happily slurped on it as we drove to school. "Come on," Corbin grunted out as we walked to our first class. He walked in before me and I lingered back. He gave me a look. What, I was shy. The bell rang and I flinched. Taking a breath I walked into the classroom, a smell caught my attention and I looked up. My eyes met blue orbs, I couldn't look away.
