| Alek's POV |
I woke up with such desperation. My eyes snapped open and I looked around frantically, trying to look for the two angels that invaded and haunted my dream. I sat up and buried my head in my hands. The fear settled inside me, and I couldn't help but flinch at every sound I heard.
A soft snore made me yelp in surprise, making my heart beat wildly in my chest. I turned around to try to see who was making that noise, only to realized it was Alice beside me.
Once I saw her, I felt my body slouch in relief and a smile crept up my face. Alice looked so peaceful while sleeping. Her long eyelashes fanned her cheekbones, and her eyebrows didn't have that devilish look they usually have. Her full pink lips were slightly open, where her soft snores were coming from. My heart swelled as I saw her curled into a ball right next to me, as if she was seeking for warmth.
My smile soon vanished as pieces of the horrible succubus flashed through my mind. Alice with her white dress, stained with dark crimson gore. Somehow she still look unbelievable stunning. The more I reflected on my dream, the more the realization came. It was then when the dream made sense. Why the angel Gabriel visited in my dream. My mind soon wandered to the time I went out with Alice. Our first date.
"Aleksandr," a soft voice had said.
I opened my eyes and jumped in shock as I saw the angel I've seen two times before.
"Angel," I whispered and looked at him wondered. Everything of him was flawless. His face features were symmetrical, his sky blue eyes focused at me and he smiled.
"Gabriel," Alice greeted him. I stared at her in shock. She looked at him as they were old friends. I was stun at the fact that she didn't look at him the same way I was.
"Sister Alice," he replied and bowed down to her. Gabriel then glanced at me and bowed them as well. I was flabbergasted. Why was a angel, so high ranked than me, showing me such courtesy. I was but a mere human, nothing more.
He then stood up and scrutinize me. "You have accepted your duty as the Guardian. You will protect Alive with your life. Is that understood?" The way he said, so impassive and monotonously, I knew I was getting myself into something so deeply serious. I realized how important this duty was going to be.
I knew I should be running away. This was life-or-death duty, and once I officially accept the contract, there was no going back. I glanced at Alice and suddenly in the moment fearing her was long her. I watched as she stood there in silence, her hands clasped tightly behind her. Her posture was straight, there was no slouching. She looked absolutely impeccable. But as I glanced at her eyes I knew how much her image contradicted her silver orbs. Hidden in her eyes, were deep emotions that I hardly understand.
I saw fear, hurt, anger, but most of all I saw need. I knew many people thought of her as a prodigy. She had the highest rank and test scores in the school, and even possibly the whole country. She had manners of a royal person. She spoke many languages, played many instruments, she feared no one. Somehow , though, I knew she suffered through a lot. Just by looking at her, reminds me of myself. Even if I wasn't as intellectual as her, I was still an idol in the school. Amazing grades, rich family, polite manners, but yet inside of me I was like any normal human. Family issues, a broken person.
I didn't want Alice to suffer alone. I wanted to stand beside her and to comfort her and to tell her everything was going to be alright. I didn't hesitate on my answer so I looked back at the angel and nodded. "Understood."
Alice head snapped to look at me, and I saw a tiny smile on her lips. I was mesmerized by her eyes and I couldn't look away. Her orbs widen and I saw the flecks of violet in her pupils.
