|Alice's POV|

"We're finally here." We stood at the edge of the cliff, gazing at the distance. I heard Alek take a huge breathe.

"It's so..." he tried to look for words but I figure they were none. I understood the feeling all too well.

It was absolutely breathtaking.

A few miles away stood the great palace of Hades. It is just as I had seen it last time. The tremendous gates stood tall and strong that only those who were allowed. Well, with the exception me and Lucifer. The gates were closed and I know that Hades knows that I was already here. After all, my visit was unwelcome. I vaguely remembered the fight between the twin brothers and I. Hypnos and Thanatos. I wondered what happened to them. They were severely injured on the fight, so no doubt they went to go recover.

"Alice look!" Alek's hiss brought me back to the present. In front of us a dark mist started to form, and I knew instantly what it was. Charon.

"What is happening?" Alek looked nervous.

"Hey relax. It's just Charon."

"Who?" He questioned.

"He is the ferryman. He is going to take us to Hades's castle."

Alek looks at Charon in wonder. I turned to Charon and I saw him for the first time in a few years. He looked the same. His brown cloak covered his face but I knew his what laid past the clothing.  Charon was nothing but a skeleton. His skin and flesh all but decayed centuries ago. In his hands, was a long wooden stick, something that he always carried with him.

"Wait, I remembered this from the mythology class. Didn't humans who died were supposed to give him some kind of coin to cross the river?"

I turned to Alek and grinned. "Well it's a good thing that I am not human. Right?"

"Dissonantia," a thin voiced murmured and I spun around to look at the thin reaper. He bowed at me, the end of his staff disappearing in the river.

"Charon," I responded. "Take us to Hades this instant."

He nodded and looked down at the river. A long boat soon appeared and I knew it was time to leave to Hades.

"I thought Hades made it clear that we were unwelcome," uttered Alek.

I laughed. "We are. But Charon can't really refuse me. If he did, I would have killed him in a second leaving the Underworld unprotected. I bet Hades told him to give me the ride. He can't afford to lose Charon. Isn't that right?" I turned to Charon. He said nothing and continued paddling.

"According in the books, a coin is placed on a dead man's mouth so he could have a coin to give to Charon."

I nodded. "Sadly, many families do not do that anymore, thinking that everything is, well, just a myth. And so that left many souls wondering the earth, hence, the believing of ghost and evil spirits within the human world. It a true sorrow, really, when they do not realize it is there own family seeking for any kind of help."

"What about those paranormal things that happen?"

"They're usually mad or desperate. Think about it, being caged between two realms and not being accepted on neither. It sucks really." I shrugged.

Alek looked at me with curiosity. "Sounds like you experienced it."

I laughed and shook my head. "I'm no ghost. But I have met a handful of those ghost. More than I can count, actually."
