.May stacked a new stack of files next to her desk. Her head screamed for a break, she wanted to throw all the files around her off the table and get out of here.
In the meantime she had withdrawn from the battlefield for a quarter of a year.
She regretted it, but it was for the best.
May rubbed her forehead and leaned back in her chair.
The door to the large office room opened and footsteps came up behind them.
"It's a little less today. I don't feel as well." May was expecting Agent Hophe (yeah yeah random name) voice who came every Friday evening to get the files.
"I'm not here to do the paperwork." Instead, she heard a voice that was too familiar for her.
"Coulson..." He looked at her seriously. "What are you doing here?"
"It doesn't matter now. Why don't you take a break if you're not feeling well. She looked down at the floor. "I'm fine." "Not right now." "Yes, Coulson. Why are you here." Coulson walked around her desk, opened the partition and stood in front of her.
"Melinda.." "Stop it."
"No. I won't. You know it's important to me that you're okay." She snorted.
"I haven't been well for the past few months...why should I be fine now."
A few tears filled her eyes. "I-I shot that girl..-" She put her face in her hands and cried.
Coulson knelt in front of her. Actually, he should be shocked, May had told him that the girl had died in the Crossfire, but that didn't exactly fit the situation. "I know what you're thinking Coulson.." "It doesn't matter I-"
His comlink cut him off and Fury's voice rang out.
"Philipp James Coulson where the hell are you? We're waiting since 30min." "I-" "You'll be here in 5 minutes. Or New York will be in ruins." "Yes Sir.."
He ended the call and looked at May. "I would prefer to stay with you, but we have a mission. That's why I came here." May raised her head and saw him. "Where are you going?" "New York. Helping with the Loki Problem." May nodded. "You're coming back right?" Coulson got up and held out his hand. "I promise it."
May grabbed his hand and he pulled her up. "Promise me that you'll take a break if you're not feeling well." She nodded.
"Melinda.." "I promise." He smiled, grabbed her face with both hands and kissed her forehead. "I'm counting on you." He was about to leave but May grabbed his hand.
"You're coming back, right?" Coulson looked down at his hand and hers. "I'll be back before you can say Captain America." May held his hand even tighter and looked into his face until she hesitantly let go of him, he gave her one last smile and then left the room. May lowered her hand which was still outstretched to him and looked after him. "Captain America.."
..........................................He is not coming back.
We all know that.See ya'll
