This take place in season 1.
Actually it is 1×6. (FZZT)
That one Philinda scene where I literally died while watching it.I took the scene and wrote it in my way. And at the end I added something small.
Enjoy it.
! I do not own Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D !

Coulson was in his office reading a report when May walked in. "How was Simmons." He closed the report and threw it on the table. Then he turned to her.
"Amazingly resilient. You'd never know she almost died." "An experience like that, it takes a while to sink in." Coulson nodded slightly.
May's gaze fell on the file on his table and clasped her hands together.
"That her medical report?" "Mine, actually. Blood work finally came back. I'm perfectly normal. Little heavy on the iron, but don't worry. You don't have to start calling me Ironman." May raised an eyebrow slightly. "Wasn't planning on it."
She smiled slightly and then there was silence as they looked at each other. Coulson exhaled slightly.
"My doctors never requested any tests. I ordered them for myself, but you knew that." May hesitated and then nodded. Coulson turned back to the order and pointed to it.
"This.." He paused. "Piece of paper is telling me that everything's fine. But..." He sighed slightly. "I don't feel fine." Now he looked back at May. His face spoke volumes. "I feel different."
May didn't really know what to say. She felt sorry for Coulson."Take off your shirt." He looked at her confused. "Excuse me?" "Your shirt." May walked towards him while Coulson lost himself in her brown eyes. "Unbotton it." He unbuttoned one button on his suit, pushed his tie aside, and unbuttoned his shirt below his chest.
May gingerly reached for the shirt, revealing the scar from Coulson's wound. When her fingers touched his skin, he felt embarrassed and looked down at her hands.
May took a sharp breath and looked at him softly. "Whether it was eight seconds or 40, you died. There's no way you can go through a trauma like that and not come out of it changed."Coulson looked into her eyes for a long time, he loved doing it. He felt safe. "You know how long it's taken me to.." "I know."
He didn't want her to finish the sentence. He didn't want May to face her past again. May swallowed this down and lifted a corner of her mouth slightly. They had been through so much together and she didn't want it to end.
"The point of these things is to remind us that...there is no going back. There's only moving forward."
Coulson looked at her so softly and soulfully that May had to smile. "You feel different because you are different." She slowly let go of his shirt. Coulson's hand went over her hand and held it tight. May looked at him in surprise."Thank you."
