Episode 38: A wardrobe malfunction

Today is the big day. Little Nari is coming home. Kookie and Lisa have stayed with Jimin overnight. Tae has one job. Get the twins dressed, fed and over to Jimin's and Suga's by 1:00 pm. The security has all been arranged. Tae has carefully packed and double checked the babies' bag with extra clothing and Kookie has laid out the children's clothing.

The twins have grown so much in 6 months. They are definitely approaching what is known as the terrible twos. They are talking more and both showing more of their unique personalities. Umi continues to be very social and will likely be a diva like dada and Mini is still stubborn. They are quite busy and run everywhere. They never walk. Mini hates to be confined and continues to be defiant, however he loves his sister Umi and is her protector. They are both very smart and advanced.

Everything is a struggle with the twins. Kai tells their parents they are entering a new phase. It is a phase where they will try to show their independence and want to do more on their own. It will pass in time, but it will not be easy and it requires a lot of patience.

Tae receives a call from his husband before he gets the babies ready for their big day.

"Hi Tae! How is it going there?" Kookie's voice is alive and full of excitement.

"Good morning sweetheart. It is going well. The babies just woke and are drinking their milk. They're excited to be coming to see the new baby. How are things going there?"

"Just amazing Tae. This little Nari is such a happy baby. Jimin is doing well and quickly learning the basics of parenthood. Are you okay? Lisa thought that it would be helpful if Hobi stopped by to help you with the twins before he goes to work."

"What? I don't need help caring for my children. Do you think I'm an idiot? I've gotten them dressed and ready before without help many times." Tae's tone is one of irritation. Kookie takes care and knows not to push the issue. When Tae is like this, he is not listening. Tae has not prepared the twins on his own in nearly 2 – 3 months because of his new job assignment. The twins are no easy job for one person given their newest development stage.

"Tae, I don't think that. You're a great dad. I-It's just that Lisa is usually there in the mornings and on several days with me. She handles dressing really well and you're good with breakfast. You know it's uh kind of your category. Breakfast and..." Tae lets out an exasperated breath and interrupts Kookie.

"Breakfast? So, you do think I'm an idiot!" Tae is reactive and his pride is a bit injured. Kookie knows his new work schedule is quite brutal although Tae loves the work. Tae also has some guilt, Kookie believes because he has not had much time with the twins, and wants to do his best. He misses his children.

"Tae you are great with the children. They are just so busy now and wear me out. You are very capable. You know how defiant Mini can be and Umi likes to get her way. She'll want to wear her hair bow and it has to be on the right side. Why, I do not know! Do not forget the bow or it will not go well for you. I just don't want you to be exhausted and frustrated when you arrive."

"I'm sorry, Kookie. With my new job assignment, I haven't had too much time in the mornings with the babies. But I can handle my little ones. I just resent that Lisa is questioning that. She needs to mind her own business."

"Tae she just wants things to go smoothly. The babies are changing every day. Often the simplest things can be very overwhelming with our twins. I believe in papa, and you will do well. I know my man. I love you Tae and I miss you baby. " Tae feels a warm tingling move through his limbs hearing his husband's support and praise.

"Kookie, I love you too. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon."

Now it's time to get the twins ready to go to see the new baby. After the babies finish their milk, it's time to start the morning routine.
