As the guys stand around and laugh, Jae-joon and Mini come running over.
"Papa, can I go over to Mini's house on Saturday? Uncle Jacks is going to bring over a 1500-piece Lego spaceship. Isn't that cool papa?!" Jae-joon says as Mini is also charged up with excitement and can't stand still.
Tae experiences a warm sensation in his chest seeing Mini's enthusiasm. "Uncle Kai, my papa going to help us!"
"Oh, sure thing if it's okay with Mini's parents." Papa Tae nods as both boys do fist pumps. "I'll get him over early. I know your papa is too excited to put together that 1500-piece Lego." Kai knows that this Lego project is a nightmare. He teases as Tae smiles hiding his frustration so well.
"Look its Uncle Jacks!" Jae-joon yells as Jackson approaches.
"Uncle Jacks! I'm coming over to Mini's house on Saturday to help with the Lego pirate ship!"
Jackson gives high fives to his unofficial little fan club of two. "Cool, dude, the more the merrier is what I always say. I was thinking." Tae braces himself hearing these words. This is not good. "You boys are quite smart so I'm going to bring over the 3000-piece Lego building set from Star Wars. The Millenium Falcon."
Then you will be master builders like me." Mini and Jae-joon are just awestruck as their little eyes bulge and mouths drop open. "I did Legos with my papa when I was your age."
Tae was thinking of all the slow and painful ways to kill Jackson until he hears what he said about his father. How easy he forgets that everyone didn't have a shitty relationship with their father like him. Yeah, Jackson can be a bit disconnected and without a filter, but he has always been brilliant, patient, hardworking and loyal. He heart is also pure. His father died when he was 12 and it never occurred to Tae that he is just doing what his father did with him. All these years later and it is still significant for him. What more could he wish for with his own son—a memory that lasts well into his future. He's grateful for Jackson's model of fatherhood. He gets it and wants to be the best father he can be.
"Uncle Jacks you're really cool!" Jae-joon shouts.
"Yeah! You're cool Uncle Jacks!" With that, both Kai and Tae swallow and realize they need to adjust their attitudes.
"Uh, can I come help too?" Kai asks.
"Yay, Uncle Kai!" Mini shouts.
"Kai you are welcome, and I'd love your help with this." Tae realizes that his time with his children is limited. He's not promised decades with his children. Look at what happened to Jackson's father. Every moment counts. He notices that he's a bit jealous of Jackson and wants to be a cool dad too. As does Kai.
"Hi guys," Namjoon says as he greets the group. "What's this I hear about Legos?! I love Legos. Grew up with them. I'm like the best Lego builder ever."
