Lexi
The friends we have as children shape us. Some of them we keep forever, some of them we lose along the way... but all of them leave something behind... or in his case, take something as they leave.
Mason Jennings held my heart in his hands at...

It's midday by the time we pull up outside my apartment building. I'd fought with Mason about me getting a taxi but he threatened to throw me in the river if I didn't get in his and Sam's shared truck - a fact I learnt after he saw my eyes triple in size as he walked up to it. Needless to say our truce is still fresh and I wouldn't put it past him to follow through on his words - so I got in.
"So..." he said as he put the truck in park.
"So..." I repeated.
"What do we do now?" he chuckled.
"I'm not sure." I chuckle back, then I hold my chin between my fingers and frown to show an exaggerated thinking face, "Though I think a start would be me shipping back the jerseys I had 'wipeout' printed onto"
He rolled his eyes, "Oh ha ha, you're just hilarious."
"And totally not joking." I quip back.
He eyes me with cocked eyebrows and an expression that says 'seriously?'
"I guess you'll have to wait until your game to find out" I shrugged, "Oh wait." I snapped my fingers, "Never mind, you won't be playing."
"Ok, truce over. I liked it better when our interactions were limited to 'fuck this, fuck that and fuck you' statements. You're enjoying this new thing too much." he grumbled.
"I thought you had people for the 'fuck you' part, hm Mason?"
I don't know where this confidence in messing with him has come from but I can't help but feel proud of the way he's narrowing his eyes at me - though it's more playful and less 'I want to murder you' now. Small victories.
"I do." he states, his disapproval morphing into a cocky smirk, "Do you Lex? Or are you just as stubborn about taking your clothes off as you are about everything else?"
I scoff and open the door, grabbing one of the bottles of water he'd found in the trunk for us, "That's something you'll never have the pleasure of finding out Jennings."
"Wasn't planning on it Turner. No need to chase after someone I'm choosing to tolerate for personal gain."
"Oh so that's what we are now, people who tolerate each other?" I ask.
"Well what would you say we are?" he retorts, challenging me for an alternative.
"We're definitely not friends." I immediately state.
He scoffs, "Definitely not. I have too many issues with your choice of sport."
"Excuse me?" I snap.
"You threw in the towel on hockey for figure skating. You downgraded Princess."
"Say that again when I skate circles around you at the next joint practice."
"I look forward to watching you fail spectacularly." he jested.
I consider him for a second and then shrug, raising my hands at him as I do so, "Nope. I can't even tolerate you."
