Hands gripped my arms to steady and when I looked up, I admittedly stepped back. "Jason, what're you doing here?" I asked. He looked around and smiled at me, "getting a couple movies. My mom's out of town so I have to watch my little brother. If you want you can join us. We're gonna order pizza and watch a few movies," he said. "Oh. Thanks but I'm going to Stu's party. I'm just waiting for Randy to get off so we can pick out some movies and then head to the party." He nodded and looked down. "I'm sorry about earlier today. Billy just gets protective," I said. "It's okay. I understand especially with what happened last time. You know you could skip the party and come over to my place if you wanted," Jason said. He had this hopeful look on his face. Like he was pleading with me to say yes. I didn't miss the way he looked me up and down.
"Hey, you okay?" I looked beside me to see Randy. He put a hand on my lower back under jacket. "Yeah. I was just wishing Jason a good night with his brother. What section are we putting away next?" I asked. "Jason, can we get a scary movie for tonight?" Jason's brother came over holding up Chainsaw Massacre. "I don't know, man. Mom would kill me if I let you watch that," Jason told him. "Moms not home. Please," he begged. Jason finally rolled his eyes, "Fine. I'll talk to you later, Y/N," he said. Looked Randy up and down before walking off. "What a douchebag," Randy said. "Anyway, the next section is the— um— the porno section," he said, clearing his throat a tint of pink blossoming on his cheeks. I gave him a smile and walked towards the porn section. "Are you— coming, Randy?" I said with a wink. His face went completely red as his adam's-apple bobbed as he swallowed.

Before leaving we picked a few movies out and then headed to Stu's. The whole time I was helping Randy put away the returned videos I would comment on them.
"The pizza man and the babysitter. Hmm— wanna roleplay, Randy? You can be the pizza man and I'll be the hot babysitter who doesn't have money to pay for the pizza so I pay in— other ways. You can even spank me," I winked and bit my lip. His eyes were wide, face bright red, and he kept fidgeting.
He hasn't said a word to me since then. We pulled up to Stu's, high school kids outside, the door open as they came and went. We got out of the car and seeing as I was feeling like a complete fool and that I definitely crossed the line I distanced myself. Maybe it was just my anxiety talking. I was starting to wonder if I should have taken Jason up on his offer even if it would have been a bad idea. But I had somehow let a sliver of hope seep into me that there was a chance Randy liked me the way I liked him.
How can someone like me— have these kinds of thoughts? That's what I was always asked. How can a girl like you be so self-conscious? You're beautiful, popular, and a cheerleader. You could have a guy you wanted. That's an easy answer. I know for a fact that I have five people that I can always count on. Five people who would stick beside me and fight with me. The others were merely acquaintances and would shove me to save themselves. The guys that ''chased'' after me were only wanting one thing. They wanted to get in my pants so they had bragging rights. Randy was different. Sure he's a complete geek and obsessed with horror but he sees the person you really are.
He has always been there when I needed a shoulder to cry on without asking me a million questions. I could sit in complete and total silence with him and it would not be awkward. He didn't look at me like some kind of trophy or a prize to be won. But he also didn't see me as more than a friend either. Once I scrounge up enough courage, I would apologize for my stupidity and for crossing a line.
"It's about time you got here!" Stu said. "Did you bring the movies?" Randy held up the bag full of movies. "Yeah. I'll go set everything up and take a vote on what everyone wants to watch," he said and walked to the living room. I went to follow but Stu stopped me. "Hey, you okay, sweets?" Stu was like another big brother. Him and Billy have been best friends since grade school. And since his parents were gone a lot and his sister was out of the house, he spent a lot of time at our place when he wasn't throwing parties.
"I'm fine," I said. I looked over to find Randy sitting next to Sidney as they both laughed. I grabbed my jacket and pulled it tighter against me. I suddenly didn't want to be here. "Where's Billy?" I asked. "Bring more beers up from the basement. We somehow drained the fridge in the garage. Come here," he said and pulled me into him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and put my face in his chest. "Meeks is an idiot. If he can't see the beautiful girl right in front of him that wants him then he doesn't deserve you. There are plenty of guys here who would die to be with you. And if they do something to piss you off or upset you I'll kick their ass."
I snorted and pulled away. "I'll keep that in mind," I said. "Seriously though, maybe try flirting with some other guy in front of him. If he gets jealous then you know he feels the same," Stu said. "What's going on here?" We looked to the sound of footsteps coming towards us. Billy walked up to us, beer in hand. "Just tell our little sister that Meeks is a moron. And to flirt with someone else," Stu told him. "What that geek do now?" Billy asked. "Nothing. I think I might have crossed a line today. But I don't want to think about it. I just want to party," I said and plucked the bottle out of Billy's hand.

I took Stu's advice and found some idiot foolish enough to fall into the trap. Eric Holden, baseball player, brown hair, green eyes, and tall. He was talking about something or another. I laughed at his horrible jokes. I let him roam his eyes over my body even if it gave me the creeps. I was only able to deal with it because I knew Billy and Stu were close by and keeping an eye on him. But after an hour I was getting bored. I had a good buzz going and didn't want it to stop. "I'm going to get another beer," I said and turned to walk towards the kitchen before he could say a word.
I groaned when there wasn't any more beer in the fridge. I would have to go to the basement so that's what I did. I headed for the basement door. "Hey. Where ya going?" Billy was blocking the door. "Beer," I said. "Try the garage. I brought it down there up here," he said. I nodded my head and walked to the garage.
My hand just wrapped around a beer bottle when I felt hands on my hips. My whole body tensed and then a hand came into view. The familiar ring had me relaxing. I stood straight and turned around. "Fucking hell, Randy."
