April 11th, 1912- 5:42pm
Dinner had been served 42 minutes ago. So far, it was all going good. Jack had even partially won over my mother, who was starting to approve of him. We all enjoyed ourselves, laughing and conversing. Jack was in awe when he entered the dining room, and I have to admit, it was adorable. When I saw him on the Grand Staircase, my heart fluttered. I was happy both of my parents now liked him.
After telling my parents I was going to spend time with Jack, I took off my heels and ran with him. We decided to explore the whole ship, even the parts we weren't supposed to be in. While nearing the 1st class pool, a crew member yelled at us.
"Oi! You kids shouldn't be down here!"
"Shoot, y/n, we gotta go!"
We laughed as we dashed through the series of rooms and hallways. There were multiple crew members chasing us at this point, but the adrenaline got us further than we thought we could go.
We ran into the boiler rooms and hid amongst the coal and steam- it was getting harder to breath, but it didn't matter, because we were in the moment and didn't care. We stayed for 10 minutes when one of the men working in coal caught us- "Oh my gosh, not again!" I sighed. We started laughing again and ran. Once we were sure nobody could find us, Jack and I started talking again:
"I'm so happy I agreed to dinner! This is so much fun!" Jack smiled.
"Yes! I-" I remembered earlier when I had ignored Jack. "I'm sorry I ignored you earlier. My mother told me I couldn't talk to you anymore."
"Y/n, it's ok. I know when I was younger my parents doubted plenty of the girls I knew."
"There was something you were trying to tell me when I wasn't talking, what was it?"
"I... don't remember. I'll tell you if I do, my memory's amazing!" Jack failed to lighten the mood.
"That's alright. Should we be getting back now?"
"I guess we should."
Jack and I slowly walked back to my stateroom, holding hands, laughing. It was amazing.
"Y/n, what're we gonna do when the ship docks?"
"I don't know, Jack. Maybe I could convince my parents to let you come with us."
Jack immediately became excited at the idea. "I would love that!"
I entered my stateroom just like before, but this time, my family wasn't bothered! Delaney ran up to me, jumping and smiling."
"Is he your husband yet?" Her voice sounded warped from all the jumping.
"No, Delaney, he's not. Not yet."
"Yet?!" Delaney was pretty much screaming.
"Oh, shut up!" I joked; she ran into the bedroom.
My parents walked into the room, also smiling. They seemed a lot more happy with Jack.
"She's been talking about you and Jack all evening. I hope you don't let her down." My mother joked. It was something she hadn't done in forever.
I laughed and went to the bathroom, brushing my hair and getting ready for bed. I thought about Jack the whole time. When I went to sleep, although I was happy, I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach. A bad one. I don't know why, but I tried my best to ignore it.
