Eternal Father, strong to save,

Whose arm does bind the restless wave,
Who bids the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

O Savior, whose almighty word
The winds and waves submissive heard,
Who walked upon the foaming deep,
And calm amid the rage did sleep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

O Holy Spirit, who did brood
Upon the waters dark and rude,
And bid their angry tumult cease,
And give for wild confusion peace;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

O Trinity of love and pow'r,
Your children shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire, and foe,
Protect them where-so-e'er they go;
Thus, evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

Standing next the the Dewitt Bukater family, I sang the hymn as everyone else was. The song about sailors suffering seemed ironic for the fact we were in a boat. If Jack was there, I would've told him that, but he wasn't. It was probably for the best, however, because the Dewitt Bukater family wasn't very accepting of lower-class passengers. It was thanks to their daughter, Rose, that my family was invited in the first place. Regardless of social status, their family remained kind and hospitable towards us.

The priest ordered us to sit down as he continued with the church service. I hadn't been paying much attention; our family was never very religious. My father saw no point.

The service continued, but I became distracted at the sight of Jack trying to get in. That boy didn't understand the trouble he could get into for being with me. I smiled to myself.

"What's so funny?" Rose whispered. She was my age, but understood much less due to the tightness of her family.

"Oh, nothing."

"Oh, okay."

Rose turned her head back the the priest, and, catching on before people noticed, I did the same. I wish more people knew that we didn't have to be perfect for the pleasure of other people. That's why I didn't like 1st class families much. My father knew plenty of respectable people and that's how we stumbled over opportunities like this.

I looked back over to Jack for a split second. The guards outside the door were trying to remove him from the setting. Rose noticed my staring.

"What an odd guy."

"I giggled."

"Do you kno-"

Rose was cut off my the nudging of her fiancé. We remained quiet for the rest of the service.

After it was over, my family thanked the mother of Rose and left. I couldn't find Jack anywhere.

"Delaney, do you know where Jack is?"

Delaney shook her head while looking down. She had a red mark on her face. I tried to ignore her embarrassment and scanned everyone I saw. No Jack. I went to the dining room, the promenade deck, starboard, port, even the third class staterooms- and I still couldn't find Jack. Somehow, I bumped into Fabrizio.

"Oh, Fabrizio- have you seen Jack?"

"Ah you must be y/n. Yes, Jack is at the bow."

The bow. How much more stupid could I get? I thanked Fabrizio and rushed to the top of the ship, where I found Jack at the bow.
