❁ Synopsis ❁
𝓐s we grow up, it is important for us to use the experiences we endure to shape us into the human beings we're going to be for the rest of our lives. No one ever really truly explains the meaning of our teenage years. The pain we endure, the lessons we learn, and our memories.
It becomes an important key to who you'll be when you're shot out into the real world.
Our first step into our lives.
Our personal memories are authentic to who we grow up to be as people. Your life is dependent on the choices you make to get where you're supposed to go.
It has never simply just been in black and white. The world is full of significant colours we often ignore as we live every day.
Yet, what's the difference between being alive and living?
Do we ignore the colours that personalize our monochromatic world when we just exist?
The importance of understanding the impact of your decisions can prevent you from making the wrong ones.
So, all considering, it's the memories that sit in our mind that are unique due to certain locations and people who fill the gaps between them. Our experiences make us who we are. I'm a strong believer that no one is born bad, but that "bad" is made.
It is also essential to understand that no one will ever share the same exact memory as you. They will have memories from their perspective, and will possibly always tell the story just a little differently than you would.
That's what makes them yours. No one can steal that from you.
Still, the one thing that connects all our memories is what happens in them. We all remember playing catch with our friends and being surrounded by people we love. Memory is never the same from person to person, as stated before.
Although, when I bring up silly things like getting ice cream or being afraid of monsters from the scary stories you read as a kid, a moment in your lifetime pops up in your mind bringing you to a time when you related. This is what it all comes down to; moments. Fragmented choices in our lives tie everything you've ever learned and felt into one big storyline that makes your life unique to your neighbors, to your best friends, and your parents. It's all about the little moments that mean so much to you to the point you will remember them and feel their effect until you simply can't anymore.
Little moments like Nolan Gallagher. The man who taught me the difference between lusting for someone's presence and being absolutely in love with a human being.
Because being in love with Nol' showed me that I never truly loved anyone before he came into my life.
My little moment...
Is him.
❁ Introduction ❁
Cora's Point Of View
The sounds of the window clicking open revealed a cold breeze I had been familiar with these past couple of weeks. The end of February welcomed the possibility of an early spring that I had been hoping for all month.
I was yet to leave the house this morning; packing my things up before I had to get ready to leave. Being tardy was becoming an inevitable habit of mine as we approached the later seasons of the school year.
It was clear the unbroken habit I'd been unconsciously practicing had been affecting Ethan's patience with me. I've been late three times for first period this week already, and he was slowly annoyed with waiting for me. I'm assuming the rest of the group was as well, but Eth' was the only one who ever made it known.
But, like a good friend, he waited anyway.
Senior year at Roosevelt high school was coming to an end. Graduates were preparing for the summer exams as the days quickly approached. We were already about mid-February, and we were roughly five months away from graduation. The school year had been full of the repetitive events that made Roosevelt what it was. Football games, and after parties. Field trips, and school dances. Everything was always the same at Roosevelt, which meant starting a new school year was never as scary as one was used to anywhere else. It was the consistency that made it home.
