❁ Chapter 22 ❁
Cora's Point of View
"Daniel, it's not here!" I called from the other side of the parking lot.
I searched along the sidewalk, and bushes for any sign of my phone. Daniel and Chase came running after me."I don't know then, Ce. We've looked everywhere," Daniel shrugged.
We had been looking for my phone the entire afternoon. I noticed it was gone at the end of the day, and for the last hour, we've been searching everywhere for it. We as in El', Jamie, Dani', Chase, and I.
"When did you have it last?" Jamie questioned for the thirtieth time, approaching us with Ella.
"I genuinely do not remember, James. It's just gone," I huffed. We all stayed quiet for a moment. We were all taking scans of the perimeter when someone's phone started ringing. Daniel reached into his pocket and pulled his phone out.
"Oh, sorry. One sec, it's Nol'," he said quietly as he went to answer.
Chase walked off to look in another direction. We all stayed quiet, but I listened closely to the conversation.
"Hey, man. What's up?"
...
"We're still at school. Cora can't find her phone," he sighed.
...
"Oh, shit. Really? Okay thanks, man," Daniel concluded as he hung up."What was that about?" I questioned.
"Nolan has your phone," he laughed, a little relieved.Jamie called Chase to bring him back.
"You forgot it in detention. He couldn't find us at the end of the day, so he took it with him."
I stared blankly before I too laughed.
"Now I remember," I giggled awkwardly.
Jamie rolled her eyes, and we all laughed again.
"Can you go get it?" I asked Daniel.
They all looked around at each other with soft glares.
"I...err...Sorry, Ce...I think you should do this on your own," Daniel said awkwardly, itching the back of his head.I threw my arms in the air and slammed them on my sides. Daniel shrugged.
"El'?!" I acknowledged desperately.
"Sorry, Cora... I think Daniel's right. You two need to talk," she huffed.
"We did talk," I argued.
"You argued. We mean talk," Jamie interrupted.I looked around desperately as they all gave me helpless stares. I sighed and wrapped my arms around my chest.
"Fine, can I have a lift at least?" I asked reluctantly.
Daniel nodded.

I was quiet the entire drive to Nolan's. I sat in the back of Daniel's car, pathetically pouring as he and Ella drove me over. My seatbelt wasn't on, and I was slouching in my chair.
"You know how I feel about you and Gallagher," Dani' started.
"But I hate seeing you miserable. Just fix this shit so we can all hang out like normal okay? Shit's incredibly awkward."I sighed quietly, before sitting up straight. We were on Nolan's street.
"I'll do what I can," I promised.
"Good, Ce. We're rooting for you," Ella simpered as Daniel pulled in front of his house.I waved goodbye and opened Daniel's door. I hopped out and slammed it with slight annoyance as I walked up Nolan's walkway. Daniel and Ella sped off once I got to the door. I knocked three times. I waited patiently as I heard someone come downstairs. They slowly made their way to the door and opened it.
