❁ Chapter 23 ❁
Nolan's Point of View
Cora and I were mingling upstairs in my bedroom. I was smoking another cigarette as she looked through my drawers, and rummaged through my clothes. She kept swiftly passing me dirty looks every time I took a puff.
"Do you have any plain t-shirt's?" She questioned, holding up one of my Guns N' Roses graphics.
"Doubt it," I laughed, flicking a bud off the end of my cig'.I was lying, slightly. She was looking in the wrong drawer. I just enjoyed watching her search frantically. It was amusing.
"Why are you just sitting there?" She scolded.
"Change. C'mon. Prepare for a hike," she demanded, through a pair of shorts at me.
"Why are we hiking?" I groaned, holding up the pair of black cargo's.
"You can't drive all the way up, so we'll have to walk the rest of the way," she shrugged.Cora was looking for something for her to wear on our hike. She wouldn't tell me exactly where it led, just that it was incredibly beautiful. It was one of those hundred beautiful places Daniel brought her, and he was the only other person who knew about it. I admired their relationship a lot. He loves her, and she loves him just as much. If it was anything like the cherry blossom field, then I know it was going to be incredible. Places like that are unforgettable.
"Ah, there. I knew you weren't completely psychotic," she joked, grabbing a plain black t-shirt out of my bottom drawer.
I chuckled lightly as I put the rest of my cigarette out. Cora and I changed in separate rooms, despite last night's moment of weakness I was too shy to bring up.
She was spraying some of my cologne on her when I walked in. Her eyes shot up to mine like a deer in headlights."Sorry," she paused nervously.
All I could do was laugh at her getting caught.
She packed up some necessities for the trip. I didn't complain over anything she grabbed, because this was her day. I was loading the bags into the car when Gran came outside. Cora was leaning on my Camaro waiting for me to finish.
"You kids be safe, please," she scolded lightly. She pulled Cora into a hug as she approached the car.
"We will be. It'll be amazing. I'll send you pictures," Cora reassured, returning my grandmother's warm hug.Gran gave her excited little gestures before walking over to me. I pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her forehead gently. She rested her small head on my chest.
"I love you, sweetheart." She sang calmly.
"I love you more than anything."

The drive was about twenty-two miles to the destination Cora was bringing me. Of course, without her license, she was the one guiding me where we needed to go.
"Tell me how you have a literal twin brother who drives, but you don't have your license or permit yet," I laughed.
"Exactly, why get my license when Daniel drives me everywhere," she smugly replied.
"But it'll be me driving you everywhere," I reminded her.She stayed quiet for a moment.
"True," she shrugged.
I laughed again."Then teach me," she suggested.
She was slouched in the passenger seat.
"Really?" I doubted slightly.
Cora driving? Funny."Yup. I wanna learn."
"I don't know, Ce," I said, scratching the back of my head.
"Please!" She begged.I did eventually agree that over the course of the next few weeks, I'd teach her to drive. Slowly.
But, with a catch of course. She had to tutor me in certain subjects. She agreed reluctantly but was overall excited about being able to drive within the next year.
