Chapter 18

                  Cora's Point of View

It's been a couple of weeks since Nolan and I revealed to our friends and classmates that we were each other's soulmates. I can assume you're expecting a dramatic change in our friendship dynamic, but I'm sorry to disappoint. Everything has been the exact same as it's always been.
Nolan and I have gone back to spending every day together. Our project was really coming together now. The research has finally ended and we were finally writing each of our parts of the essay. He finally found a topic he claimed he was passionate about, and wanted to wait for the presentation to tell me what it was about. Total bummer.

School had been let out early due to the final football game of the season. Our school was huge on team spirit for our team, and I was always stuck in the middle of it. All the boys in our group were on the team, and Daniel was the team captain.
I had decided to head over to Nolan's to get ready. If we won tonight, Ethan was throwing another huge party at his house. Our team was really good, so we all already knew we'd be heading there tonight anyway. I was in Nolan's bathroom curling my hair when he walked in.

"You almost ready?" He asked, coming next to me to wash his hands.
"Yup! I just need another five minutes."

Nolan laughed as he dried his hands.

"Take your time, Ce," he said as he walked out.

Nolan was the only guy in the group who wasn't on the team. He had come so late in the year, and I think Daniel was a little biased. Besides, he claims he prefers basketball anyway.
The last curl folded off the curling wand and I turned it off. I was in a black tank top and jeans. Daniel attempted to tell me that it was supposed to be cold tonight, but I didn't trust it. I've worn similar outfits to this and have been fine. Speaking of Daniel, we've been good. After that day, he said nothing about Nolan and me. I came home after ditching school for the hundredth time with Nolan, and he told me he loved me. A lot. But, he still doesn't support us together after what I went through because of him. I didn't argue with him because I know it was the best I was going to get from him. I mostly feel bad for Nolan, because Dani' hasn't really spoken to him since their fight. No apologies, either.

I ran down Nolan's stairs to see him waiting at the door. I quickly pulled on my shoes as he opened the front door.

"There was no rush, but you seemed to be waiting," I laughed.
"I've been ready for like, twenty minutes. But again, no rush. I've learned my lesson," he joked.

I laughed again as we started walking to his car.

It didn't take long for us to get to the school. The parking lot was packed with people, so we parked across the street. We were walking hand in hand to the field when I saw Jamie with El' and 'Liyah.

"Cora!" She screamed, smiling and jumping up and down.
"Hey, J!" I screamed back, letting go of Nolan's hand and running up to her.

She hugged me dramatically and we spun around. The school spirit was high tonight. Everyone was stoked about the game. We had hundreds of people in the stands, along with parents and kids from the opposing team's school.

"Let me do your face paint!" She demanded, holding up gold and red paint.
"Of course!" I agreed.

Nolan laughed as he finally caught up to us.

"You too, Gallagher?" She asked him, swatching the paint on my cheeks.
"Oh, absolutely not," he laughed.

Aaliyah and Ella laughed behind us.

Once Jamie was done ranting about how Chase was going to finally rile up the guy on the opposite team who's been provoking him all season, we went to find seats in the bleachers.
Of course, Nolan was all down for the drama. Chase had been talking about it all week.
We all sat down as the teams prepared for takeoff. I saw Daniel heading to his position.
