Two days of endless crying, sleepless nights, and cuddling with Jisoo's clothes has passed and Chaeyoung could not resist the temptation to go to work - she puts on her coat and kisses their dogs, Hank and Dalgom before going to her office building
When she arrives Chanyeol isn't there which is atypical of her brother - she slips a note on his desk and proceeds to go to her own office
"This is gonna be fine, I'm gonna solve some cases" she murmurs to herself
Before she could even open a file her father is already leaning on her door frame
"Hey..?"
"Chaeyoung, what are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to take the week off"
"I'm dyi-- suffocating in our apartment"
Her father heaved a sigh, "you can always stay at the house - your mom would love any excuse to take care of your dogs"
"I'm not gonna bother mom on her 'housewives of Seoul' phase besides - I need this"
Attorney Park laughed at the housewives jab but he's face quickly turned serious and pressed the power button of her computer
"Go home, I'm not assigning any case for you"
"But dad..." Chaeyoung is not below whining to her father at the age of 26
"No, and don't even think of bothering Chanyeol on his case - I mean that"
Defeated, she drags herself out the building but not before stopping by Chanyeol's office to retrieve her note saying that he needs to update her on the case
She sees a folder opened about some Park Jimin and she wonders if its the suspect in Jisoo's case - she shouldn't so she lets it go and walks out of the building
On the way to her car she sees Taehyung going down his, "Tae? What are you doing here?"
The businessman looked startled for a moment before breaking into an awkward smile, "just here to check on my sister's case"
"Oh"
"Yeah - you're back at work?"
"I tried to - anyways I gotta go. See you around"
It was so casual that Chaeyoung felt weird, so casual that it felt norma but nothing was normal. Nothing will ever be normal again and before she breaks into a puddle of tears she steps on the gas and goes home to their kids
Once she gets home the two puppies are already waiting for her and there's that pain in her chest again
She feels Jisoo there
She sees Jisoo sitting on the L shaped couch on the lounge looking all prim and proper with her businesswoman attire, she'd be waiting for Chaeyoung to arrive and wait for her to tell her how her day went
She sees Jisoo bent over the kitchen island with a glass of scotch on her hands, idly scrolling through her phone and she's telling Chaeyoung that she wants chicken for dinner
She sees Jisoo on the balcony playing with the dogs, laughing uncontrollably that Chaeyoung falls in love all over again
She sees Jisoo sprawled on the bed, eyes closes but mumbling something like 'Chaeyoung get back in bed'
She sees Jisoo in the walk in closet looking at her clothes, deciding which dior dress should she wear that reminds everyone that she IS Jisoo Kim but ends up covering the whole outfit with one of Chaeyoung's YSL coats
Chaeyoung closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, her hands are cold so she shoves them in her coat pockets and walked to change the room temperature
She feels something on her pockets and its the calling card that crazy dude gave her two days ago
"Then can I call you chipmunk?"
"I'd rather not 'fuck off' I'm death and I'm here to offer you a deal about Jisoo"
She ended up putting the calling card on the refrigerator door and started cooking food
She downs a glass of wine when she sees Jisoo sitting in front of her, smiling like she always does and teasing her
...
"Aww, you did the dishes? I could ask you to marry me right now" Chaeyoung jokes
Jisoo who was still busy with the plates threw her a smirk and a nervous glance, "hold on, let me finish this so I can propose first"
"Uh-huh" Chaeyoung laughs but stops when she realizes Jisoo was not laughing
"Stop joking around" she adds
"I'm not - check my pocket"
This wasn't possible but the lawyer swore time stopped for a moment, trapping them in that moment as she reaches out to check Jisoo's pockets
There was a tiny box and Chaeyoung pulls in out, looking at it with a mixture of surprise and happiness
Jisoo dries her hands and turns to Chaeyoung who's was just looking at the box, she opens the box without taking it off the lawyer's hands and didn't let go of her hand either as she kneels
"Park Chaeyoung, Attorney Park Chaeyoung, Chipmunk...Will you just marry me and spend for forever with me cause I don't know if I can go another day waiting"
Tears strained eyes, her throat drying up but Chaeyoung manages to choke out a yes
...
In between the frustration and the feelings she doesn't want to feel and missing her Jisoo she grabs the calling card and dials the number
"This is Cafe Aewol Monsant, How can I help you?"
"A reservation for two, tomorrow, 8am"
"Who should I address it to?"
"Attorney Park Chaeyoung"
She ends the call and she sees Hank and Dalgom looking at her
"This is crazy" she tells them, meeting with a potential witness about Jisoo's case can ruin the whole thing especially that she's not the one assigned to the case
She trusts Chanyeol with her life but she's not about to just give this to him
After dinner she opens the TV and the cat eyed reporter she and Jisoo loved watching was on the news - reporting Jisoo's accident
"There might be a crucial witness in the case of Jisoo Kim, CEO of JSK corp.'s case"
"A week ago the businesswoman was involved in a hit and run incident where she was heavily injured and eventually declared dead while on surgery"
"The hit and run didn't look one bit of an accident and rather a murder - police and private investigators are doing their best to put whoever is responsible in this heinous crime to justice - this is Jennie Kim, reporting live"
