Chapter 20: an oath to keep with a final breath

I ran to the side if the boat only to see an old lady and her chihuahua. What? I though to my self.

"We want the son of Poseidon." The old lady said.

Percy as if on cue ran out with riptide and Annabeth at his heals stopped when he saw the old lady.

"Again" Percy moaned

"Yes. Son of Poseidon. We meet again. Me and my son have missed you." The old hag said

"Percy have you fought this lady before?" Frank asked

"Yeah. I was twelve on the Gateway Arch."

"And how do you kill it" I asked

"That's the thing, child" the old lady said "he never did. He jumped of of the arch into the Mississippi." The lady said

"I was twelve what was I supposed to do? It was the first ,only and last fight I ever ran from." Percy said

"We'll then let's kill it." I said

"Wait" the old lady said. "My mistress only wants Jackson." She put her dog down and said "sonny. Get 'em. Destroy them." She morgues into this ugly creature I recognized from Annabeth's mythology classes as Echidna the mother of all monsters. So I guessed who the dog was.

"Percy" I said "is thy the Chimera?"

"Yeah. Don't let anything touch you" he said back.

I was the first to charge. I grabbed a hammer out of my toolbelt and threw it at Echidna. I flew flames at it. Percy took the distraction and stabbed it. "Take that. Not running now am i" he said and with drew his sword as the monster disintegrated. Annabeth and hazel were working on Chimera. Jason and frank were attending to piper who was blobbed with green poison. "Percy" Jason called "come heal her with water" he nodded and aided piper back to health.

I went to help hazel and Annabeth. I threw fire at the monster and Annabeth went in for the stab. It disintegrated.

"Whoo!! Take that Gaea" I yelled and Percy came over and patted my back. "Great job leo" I thanked him and went to the control room. I looked at the map. "Guys," I called "were landing in five minutes" I saw Percy run into his room followed by Annabeth close behind and he locked the door. "Percy let me in" she said and the door opened and she was pulled in and the door shut again.

I went to his door and put my war against the door.

"... Gaea. When I was sucked into the earth... Told me that when we get to Rome... She is going to use my body as a host. So I'm telling you now. If you ever have a chance to kill Gaea in my body. Do it. Don't worry about me. And the gods told me they can't prevent it. So do it. You have a chance do it. Promise me."

I heard Annabeth crying and I heard a faint "I swear on the river Styx." Thunder boomed. She gasped " Percy. An oath to keep with a final breath."

I stopped listening and ran back to the helm and landed the ship scared for the quest Percy and mostly Annabeth.
