CHAPTER 25

"All right, set the camps." Mike said and got down from his horse.

The knights got out of the carriages and started to set their camp. They began to build tents and gave water and food to the horses.

"Captain, your tent has been built." Armin, a knight under Mike said. "Inform Captain Chris and the mages that we will have a meeting in a short while."

"Yes Captain." Armin said and saluted before leaving. Only a few minutes later, they started the meeting and talked about how will they explore the forbidden labyrinth.

"Maaga pa pero hindi pwedeng tumunganga lang tayo dito. Let's send a scout and check our surroundings first to see if there's any monster's nest nearby. We will also send a party to gather resources after lunch." Chris said while looking at the map that's been placed on the round table.

"Sasama ako sa pag-scout. It should be easy for me." Otomo Afelis said, a mage that has also joined the expedition. He is a mage that specializes with the earth element.

"Approved. I will send two of my knights with you." Mike said.

"Oh! Then I will set a barrier around the camp! Will you give me an approval Sir Knight?" Marie, one of the three mage sisters, energetically said while fluttering her eyes at Mike.

Mike slightly nodded. "That would be much appreciated. Please do Miss Marie." He said with a stoic face and proceeded to look at the map. Marie pouted and glared at Mike. "Don't be so cold Captain. Smile a little bit more or else you won't be able to get married."

"I have no interest in marriage at the moment Miss Marie, let's focus on our mission. This is for the empire." Mike said without even glancing at Marie. She was about to say more when her sister, Mariana, stuffed her mouth with an apple. "Don't talk and keep your mouth shut Marie."

The meeting ended after two hours. Otomo, together with Ford and Armin left to scout around the place. Marie also quickly started casting a spell to create a barrier that would alert them if any beast or strangers stepped inside the barrier. She then created another one that would give them protection.

"Argh. That drained my energy. Ivan! Grace me with some ice!" Marie said while walking towards Ivan Sephils, a mage that has high affinity with the element of ice. "No. I want to save my mana for battles."

"What battle? You're not engaging yourself into one. Wag kang OA. Yelo, bilis! Maawa ka sa'kin nanghihina na ako dito oh?"

"Marie! You're strong enough. Hindi maddrain ang mana mo sa simpleng pag-cast ng barrier. Wag mong guluhin si Ivan, halika dito, magluluto tayo."

"Oh! Lunch! Nice."

Marie quickly hopped towards her sister Marian to help with lunch.

On the other side of the forest, with Otomo's group, they are alert while walking and leaving some tracks on tree trunks. "Man, it's quite peaceful here don't you think?" Armin said while looking around. "And that's quite suspicious. Beasts and monsters are supposed to be lurking around these woods. We haven't even encountered one small monster all this time. Small slime monsters should've at least shown themselves but not even one can be seen." Otomo replied. "You sure know quite a lot. If I'm not mistaken, you were once an adventurer, right Sir Otomo?"
