As I walked up to our usually hang out at lunch time, as soon as they all spotted me they all began praising me, their arms up and down in the air as though they were hailing me their queen and I gave them all the finger. Sitting there was Charlie, Mia, Jenner and a smiling Jacob who had now upgraded to wearing a bloody scarf.
Fucking hipsters...
"How are we all?" I sat down and grabbed the apple from my bag and they all gushed at once. "Oh yeah me too." I rolled my eyes up at them and Charlie got in first.
"They got suspended?"
"Yeah in class we could see them getting escorted of the premises with their parents. It was so wonderful and I even was able to film it. It's all over Facebook." Mia giggled as she ate her sushi rolls.
"And why was Beau asking me about you?" Charlie asked and everyone stopped talking immediately.
"Oh he was in the meeting and after I completely owned Lucy, he was following me and I kind of snapped at him because he was annoying me." I shrugged and took a bite of my apple.
"That's not nice." Beau tutted and I turned around to see Sam and him standing there, Sam mouthing the word sorry as he sat down next to Charlie.
"What do you want Cross?" I sighed as he sat down next to me.
"Though since all the cheerleaders were gone, I'd take this opportunity to widen my horizon on girls. Get to know you ladies better, except you Charlie. I know you well enough." He winked at her and she blew him a kiss that ended with the middle finger at him.
Everyone went really quiet, not knowing what to say now that Beau was here. Even Jenner, who was new, didn't even bother to say anything, though her cheeks flamed red with embarrassment.
"You sure can shut down a conversation Cross." I comment and Jacob laughed a little too loudly as he proceeded to scoot closer towards me. From across the table Mia and Charlie giggled under their breath as they tried to cover it with a cough.
"Well then I'll start the conversation then." He looked at me, "So are you and Jacob an item?" He grinned and Mia lost it then while Charlie swung her leg underneath the table causing Beau wince as she must of connected with his leg.
"No we aren't an item, he's one of my best friends." I said leaning against him and I could almost feel the air go from weird to awkward. I had just friendzoned Jacob in front of all our friends and Beau.
Please shoot me in the head.
"Tough man, getting friend zoned by the girl you like is never easy but on the bright side you can now move on because you know she isn't interested." Beau reached behind me and slapped Jacob on the back, effectively hitting me in the process and if things could get any worse. They just did.
I tried to kill Beau with my eyes as Jacob sighed heavily and got up, making some excuse about a project or homework assignment I couldn't understand him over the mumbling. As he walked away, Jenner watched him leave with sad eyes and for a moment I thought I saw affection brewing but it stopped when she caught me staring.
Mia and Charlie shook their heads at me, while Sam chastised Beau by hitting him across the head, "What?" Beau and I both exclaimed and I glared at him before shifting across the bench, giving myself some space between him.
"You are an idiot, you know he likes you." Mia exclaimed back and I groaned loudly as Charlie added on, "You friendzoned him in front of everyone."
"What was I supposed to say? Don't blame me, blame dickwod Cross over here!" I nodded to Beau who was still being hit by Sam.
"Jeez you are rough Sam, is that the way Charlie likes it?" He grinned and all at once he was hit from every direction. I smacked him over the back of the head, Sam punched him in the arm and Charlie kicked him straight into the shines, "Ah! Okay fuck! Jesus, fuck this." He got up but before he left, he looked down at me and grinned, "I love a girl who plays hard to get."
