Chapter nine
Clairemont was given the rest of the week off so instead of feeling sorry for myself, I got in my car and started driving around town. Mia was over early to see Lachlan and I believe, with a house to themselves, they will be up to a few things that I didn't want to know about. As I drove I ended up in a part of town I had been to once and as I pulled into Beau's house I knew that I was always coming here.
Knocking on the door I stood back and crossed my arms as I waited I looked around the garden and saw that I was well done, the grass was green and the flowers were beautiful. After five minutes I began banging on the door as hard as I could against the wood. Beau's Jeep was out the front so I knew he was home.
"Fuck off Maria!" Beau screamed from behind the door and I stood back in shock.
"Um..." I struggled not to laugh and I knocked again lightly, "It's not Maria."
Throwing the door wide open there he stood looking dumbfounded as he moved out of the way so I could come in. As I walked in, I made my way into the living room and saw that it was pretty messy. Beau realising this also began cleaning as quickly as he could as I sat on the couch, trying not to laugh.
"Having some trouble?" I coughed and he raised an eyebrow to me, "With the chickas?" I elaborated and he nodded he raced into the kitchen putting his dishes away.
"Yeah Maria has been all over my case since I tried to save you." He called out and I nodded in understanding, "So what brings you to my door step?" He sat down next to me though keeping a respectful distance.
I couldn't help but notice he was wearing only some loose tracksuits that sat nicely on his waste and he was wearing a very tight t-shirt that had the word Duke across his chest. His hair was out of sorts and I could tell I had just woken him up.
"Well I was talking to my brother last night he told me about when I wasn't... Myself you were practically living at my house and I wanted to know if that was true or not." I stated the facts and his eyes went a little wide before he quickly composed himself.
"Yes it is true."
"Why?" I wondered at him and he stared at me as if the answer was so completely obvious, "What because you like me?"
"I don't just like you Evie, I can't stop thinking about you. You are always on my mind and I can't seem to focus on anything. You are in all my thoughts and all I want to do is make you happy. I meant what I said yesterday, that I would die for you because a life without you is something I never want to endure. I... I think I am in love with you. My heart is racing just because I'm sitting next to you and I know you feel something for me too. I know I was meant to stay away from you, you asked me but I know it's because I hurt you and I'm sorry and I will do anything and everything in my power to make it right." He moved closer to me and stared at me, baring his soul to me and I felt my chest tighten with emotion.
"I'll ask you one thing and don't lie to me because if you lie that's it, we are done." I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, "Why did you start talking to me in the first place?"
The room was silent, I could hear the clock in the hallway ticking along as the seconds turned to minutes. I didn't even need to hear his answer because the guilt was etched all over his face. They say the eyes are the window to our soul and I could see right through to Beau's guilty concious.
"Lucy and Maria were pissed and they wanted to humiliate you so I pretended to be interested and I was meant to pull the rug from under you when Lucy came back from suspension but-" I raised my hand as I opened my eyes and I didn't need to hear anymore.
