Vellery trudged alone behind her parents regretting ever stepping into the store for the dead. It was upsetting that she was even apart of this vampire convention, but to top that off she was being sold by her parents to a vampire. It was all so unreal up until the point she was faced with the clear tube that only purchased humans could walk through.
Her mother stepped away from the family when they got close to the door. She held Camille close to her in a death grip and little baby Jason fussed in his carrier strapped to her mother's chest. The two girls watched wide eyed from their standing point. Only Vallery's father walked her to the door. He shook with some unknown emotion as he let his eldest child walk through the clear doors.
"Vallery Fannigan," Her name was called by a man standing with his clipboard proudly. She walked over to him with only sixteen years of life and the clothes on her back. "Come with me," the two moved through crowds of vampires and humans. It was sickening for the human girl who could feel the temperature change of everybody she passed. "Sir, I've brought you your newest human."
"Excellent, let's move forward," He didn't turn he merely grabbed his things and motioned for his men to follow. Vellery stared at the ground and joined the end of the crowd.
"Now, now, there will be no sulking in my group," A cold hand grasped Vallery's shoulder. she yelped and turned to face a well built vampire. He smiled at her dazzlingly. "It will be okay, we're friendly here right Mythril?"
The man in the front of the group turned to face them. Vallery gasped, she hadn't expected to ever meet a blind vampire. It's rare among the creatures of the night, but it meant they are far stronger than the others. "Certainly," He smiled his silver eyes gleaming.
Vallery looked up into her master's soft auburn eyes. He smiled at her with a warm sole despite the cold fingers grasped upon her shoulder. "Everything will be just fine."
Vallery sat on her new bed in her new room in her new home. She wanted to cry, but there were no tears to shed so she sat in her bed and watched the sun rise. The breakfast bell rang and she was summoned down stairs.
To her surprise there were only a handful of humans in the dining room and only a few in the kitchen. "Hurry up and sit down," One of the women serving ordered.
Vallery did so, she felt drained of emotion and barely touched her food. "You are to clean master Mythril's study," The same woman from before ordered, handing her a bucket with the essential cleaning supplies within.
When she entered the small warm space Vallery noticed that the room was already clean. It was a sad realization that she was in the way. She knelt beside her bucket and sulked.
"What are you doing in my study?" A curious voice said from behind her.
Vallery turned her body so she could look at who it was. She gasped when she realized it was Mythril himself. "This is where they sent me," she answered.
"Curious, I usually keep my study rather tidy," The vampire said as he entered to sit at his desk. "I know you are staring even though I can't see you child."
"Oh, I apologize," Vallery said picking up her bucket. "I'll um go see what else I should be doing."
"Don't let them bully you too much young one. They tend to not like new humans who come to this place," Mythril said with an amused look on his face. "Until next time."
