Chapter 5 - Healing

The smoke dissipate and Mason was a mess, he was hurt and bleeding everywhere. It's as if he was a disoriented bird flying through barb wire escaping from a predator. However, this was much worst because the wounds were struck deep into his skin, accompanied by a few burns, bruises, and multiple broken bones. He was practically almost a ragged doll."Chloe! Call the paramedic! Don't just stand there and stare!" Amelia instructed "Ah! Yes, sorry where's the telephone" I responded "Just push the butto..." "I did it already Lia. No one is dying of imminent death on my watch" Interrupted Damien. How was I supposed to know there was an emergency button near here or anywhere. It was tremendously shocking how real this is getting. I thought we were going to send off a ghost, a spirit, or something, not battle monsters that I can barely see. Amelia thanked Damien and looked at me. I could feel that she was disappointed in me. Afraid of further damage to Mason's body she focused all of her energy on his vital organs. "Max you go get the emergency first aid kit, Chole looks after Ben and tells me if he gets any worst."

Before soon, the paramedics arrived with Max and the kit. Most of them rushed and help Mason, another helped Damien; Amelia and I went into one of the ambulances to take care of Ben. "So ... Amelia, I know you have to focus and all, but, I just want to say one thing... this is a disaster and I am not ready for any of this" I was panicking, barely able to hide myself trembling. Amelia glared at me and said "You think? Do you think I was ready for Ben to faint, or prepare for an untrained person to come or to help tend most of my teammates so they won't die? None of us are ready for this Chloe" "Yeah... maybe I was wrong. But hey at least I am not a child-like Ben."

"I am injured, not deaf!! Let me repeat myself. Keep your formalities with me. Only friends can call me Ben and you! An acquaintance must call me by my proper name. Benjamin, Benjamin! For Pete's sake!" Benjamin though frail spoke harshly towards me"You deserved that. Don't bring Ben into all of this. He is in fact our senior who played a big role in countless battles including this one. He is the most mature person in the group, and you have no right to judge us, Chloe!" "I will take it from here." One of the paramedics gesture us out while Damien, Mason, and Ben traveled toward the hospital in the ambulance. I think it was best to keep our disputes away from the injured. My heart sank a little when She defended B.e.n.j.a.m.i.n.... I feel like my skin is crawling. He gets more annoying by the minute. But, what can I do,  I am useless right now. So I should just stay silent.

Everyone walked home. Max went to the male dormitories and we too went to the Female dormitory on our way home Amelia knew how quiet I got and started to talk to me. "Chole. I am sorry to losted a fuse. I did not mean to get angry at you. Everyone was on edge. Now that I have calmed my mind and know that everyone is safe, I can clear my thoughts. However, I don't accept you complaining all the time? So can you please minimalize the complaints? None of us was prepared for its power, but we did our best with what we had. This is the reality you have to accept. We knew reports from a dream can be skewed, but, it was an emergency there was nothing we can do. Chole, you are no longer in your bubble. I don't know what happened to you before coming here. But, disparaging all you want the way you want is not a solution. I care deeply for my team and Acontra. So when you go on like that belittling my home I feel like you were insulting my family. Maybe because of your past you think people, in general, are wicked and ill-nature, but, the people here". She pauses, sighs, reflects back, and gives me a chance to talk, but, I was too afraid to say the wrong thing again. I would rather listen than make things worst. So she continues "They are nice, good, and kind people. They really do want to help you. I understand that all you see is us nagging at you, especially when Ben." her face looks annoyed by him "But we mean well. Everyone here has been through something and they too know what it is like to be hurt in different ways that you could not even imagine." how curious, everyone? "Even Benjamin?" I asked shyly "Even Ben... Only he can tell you about his dark past." Interesting. I wonder what dark secrets lie in his past? "You can't judge everything at a glance or in how they act." Wow, Amelia is really passionate about her friends "I sense that you and Ben might have a lot in common. Seems like you both think like cynics. hahaha"  "Hey! I am not like him" I corrected Lia and she laugh it off "Or maybe you are both alike because out of all of us he cares about the team the most. It's just the way that he conveys his feelings is a bit odd and rough. They are not very conventional and sometimes too frank. So he forgets how it would make others feel"
