~Amelia's POV~
After our little bonding session, Levi and I continued to train. Instead of continuing our sparring, Levi opted to give me some advice on how to improve and he was a gruelling teacher. The pain that I felt the next day was certainly a testament to that. But I did leave more confident in my sparring abilities so I couldn't complain.
We kept going late into the night until the both of us couldn't move our limbs anymore. I returned to my room with my eyes stinging and my head throbbing. It was safe to say, I would be sleeping through until the morning for the first time in a long time.
-----------
A few days passed before we heard any news of what happened at Wall Rose in our absence, and it was a lot.
A battle unfolded between Eren, Reiner and Bertholdt in their Titan forms and resulted in Eren and Ymir being kidnapped. It turned out that Ymir was also a Titan shifter which no one saw coming. From how her Titan was described, it turned out that she was the Titan who had eaten Marcel all those years ago. In the end, Ymir decided to side with the other Titan shifters and leave with them. A stupid move in my opinion and one that I never would have guessed to happen. I could hardly believe that she would leave without Christa. But fear made people make stupid decisions and I just hoped that she wouldn't regret it later.
Yet another Titan shifter entered the battle too. A Titan now titled 'The Beast Titan' due to his hairy, and unsurprisingly beast-like appearance. The battle ended in a massacre as the Beast Titan called upon a horde of Titans resulting in the death of many Scouts. Erwin was also injured in the process and the remaining souls barely managed to escape with their lives.
When I found out everything, I was with Levi. The messenger that had been sent ahead arrived when we were training together- something we'd been getting into the habit of doing since the first night we had. I could tell that Levi was devasted, despite no changes in his expression. He dismissed the messenger and promptly left, going to prepare for everyone to return. I chose to stay behind and continue my training, not knowing what to do with myself. I couldn't do anything to help and Levi most likely wanted to be alone to process the news.
The next morning, I went to the dining hall to eat breakfast. Unsurprisingly, Levi was nowhere to be seen. I had heard that everyone had returned during the night so I assumed he was with them.
As I was finishing up, someone I didn't recognise stopped me before I could leave. "The Commander wishes to see you," they announced to me in a grave tone. I was surprised that Erwin wanted to see me given his current state. The messenger hadn't told us how badly Erwin had been injured, and it had only been a few hours since his return so I couldn't figure out why he'd want to see me specifically.
I hid my surprise with a smile. "I see. I assume he's in the infirmary?" I asked the boy nicely.
"Of course, it's this way." The person started to lead me there, not knowing that I had already visited it quite a few times already. I didn't want to interrupt him as he was probably just doing what he had been told to do so, I followed behind him silently.
"They're waiting for you in there," they person told me as we arrived at the door to the room where Erwin was staying.
"Thank you," I responded. They saluted me, bowed and then left.
Turning my attention back to the intimidating wooden door, I inhaled a large breath, braced myself and knocked. I heard no response for a few seconds as if the people on the other side were caught off guard, until I was beckoned in.
Pushing open the door, I felt sick from the anticipation. I wasn't sure what was going to become of me when I entered the room. Erwin had called me here for a good reason. It was only normal that I wanted to throw up. He was the man who could decide my fate.
